Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

The greatest gift Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla gives to people is īmān, Islām. There can be nothing more beautiful than this. Those who are Muslim should rejoice. Every day, Allāh’s ﷻ grace and favor descends upon them.
These beautiful states descend upon those whom Allāh ﷻ loves. Therefore, a person who is a Muslim and obeys Allāh ﷻ is the happiest person, the luckiest person. That is luck. That is happiness. There is no happiness in anything else. Happiness that ends is not considered happiness.
What is needed is what is eternal. Even if you live a thousand years in this world, it’s gone in the blink of an eye. What good is that? None. What is eternal is the blessings that Allāh ﷻ will give to a Muslim, a believer; this beneficence is infinite. And it is not limited to that time.
They are like these days. Today is the seventh day of Dhu l-Ḥijjah. Tomorrow is the day of Tarwiyah, when ḥajjīs prepare to ascend to Arafāt. The next day is Arafāt, of course. These are among the most blessed days of the year. They are a gift from Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla to Islām and Muslims. Of course, everyone wants to be there. Even though it’s difficult, even though it’s arduous, every year people still wish to be there.
Last year, shukr to Allāh ﷻ, we were there. This year it wasn’t granted to us, but as they say, a person’s heart yearns for that place. They desire those places. And may Allāh ﷻ, in His ﷻ grace and generosity, grant us this beneficence, the gifts and favors given by Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla to the ḥajjīs there, to all of us, on these blessed days in shā’a Llāh.
People are heedless. Sayyidina ʿAlī says: “النَّاسُ نِيَامٌ، إذَا مَاتُوا استفاقوا”, “The people are asleep, and only wake when they die.” People are asleep. They wake up when they die.
If they wake up after death, what good is it? If they don’t wake up, what good is it? Here, you must awaken. You must be on the way of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. If it’s not for the sake of Allāh ﷻ, you will have no benefit. You can pursue worldly things, you can do worldly things but for the Allāh’s ﷻ pleasure.
Even if you’re richer than the richest man in the world, it’s not a problem; as long as you are on the way of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla, and you do these things for the sake of Allāh ﷻ. But if you chase after worldly things, you will find nothing, you will achieve nothing, it will be of no benefit.
There are some people who are swimming in money. They have an immeasurable amount of money. But what do they do? How do they satisfy themselves? They work seven days a week, twenty hours a day. No vacations whatsoever. They’re always at work, boasting about how much money they earned. But what good is that? Absolutely nothing. It has no benefit in this world or the hereafter.
May Allāh ﷻ not make us like them. The greatest happiness is being on Allāh’s ﷻ way. That is, a person who tastes the sweetness of īmān finds no pleasure in anything else. May Allāh ﷻ let us all taste that sweetness of īmān, in shā’a Llāh, in honor of these blessed days, in shā’a Llāh.
Wa min Allāh at-Tawfiq.
