Rain Is a Mercy from Allāh

Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

(Qur’ān 42:28)

“Wa Huwa Al-Ladhī Yunazzilu Al-Ghaytha Min Ba`di Mā Qanatū Wa Yanshuru Raĥmatahu Wa Huwa Al-Walīyu Al-Ĥamīd”

“And it is He who sends down the rain after they had despaired and spreads His mercy. And He is the Protector, the Praiseworthy.” Sadaqa Llāhu l-‘Aẓīm.

It is Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla who sends the rain. Rain is a mercy. Sometimes it is mercy, sometimes it is wrath. But shukr to Allāh ﷻ, this year mercy came. It hasn’t been like this for years. Sixty years ago, it was raining like this every year, it was beautiful. There was rain everywhere.

Sixty years ago, the state of the world became so bad, there was rebellion against Allāh ﷻ, kufr against Allāh ﷻ, not recognizing Allāh ﷻ. Because of this, Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla withdrew His ﷻ mercy from people. That’s why they’ve been complaining, “There’s drought, there’s such and such.” After that, shukr to Allāh ﷻ.

But people haven’t turned to Allāh ﷻ completely. Very few people turned to Him ﷻ, but people’s opposition to Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla disappeared. They forgot about it, they became engrossed in other things. They indulged in their own desires and lusts, but of course, they are still rebelling against Allāh ﷻ and leading everyone astray. The situation was much intense at that time.

The 1960s, the sixties of the last century, were the time when disbelief was at its peak. It was a time when opposition to religion was very strong. Because of this, Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla withdrew His ﷻ mercy, causing drought and other hardships for people. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla may not send a drop of rain if He ﷻ wishes. But He ﷻ still sends it for the honor of believers, for the honor of the poor and needy. These rains fall for honor of the Awliyā’, shukr to Allāh ﷻ.

As we said, in that time of the last century, all kinds of evil reached their peak. The greatest injustice is rebellion against Allāh. ‘إِنَّ الشِّرْكَ لَظُلْمٌ عَظِيمٌ’, ‘Inna sh-shirka la-ẓulmun ʿaẓīm’, ‘Indeed, association [with him] is great injustice.’ (Qur’ān 31:13). Associating partners with Allāh ﷻ is a great injustice, and it is an injustice done to Allāh ﷻ. They didn’t make shirk; they did not recognize Allāh ﷻ at that time.

Therefore, nothing is without wisdom. Shukr to Allāh ﷻ, people are witnessing this again this year. In shā’a Llāh, may it be good tidings. It means that the coming of the sāhib of this religion is near, and these blessings and mercy have begun to spread. In shā’a Llāh, this is good tidings.

Of course, only Allāh ﷻ knows when it will happen. Sometimes they say, “The Shaykh said he will appear this year.” We wait. We wait every minute. The promise of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla is true. Our belief that he will come is certain. We accept every good thing as good tidings, in shā’a Llāh.

May Allāh ﷻ send the sāhib soon. Because in his time, there will be much barakah. Mawlānā Shaykh Nāẓim used to say, it will rain at night, and the sun will shine during the day. There will be such beautiful days. There will be two harvests a year. Animals will give birth twice. He says everything will be prosperous, and so it will be.

Therefore, these things are good tidings, in shā’a Llāh. It means it is approaching. May Allāh ﷻ let us meet him. There has been too much oppression, too much everywhere. Therefore, we await him as good tidings, and may the savior of mankind come, in shā’a Llāh.

Wa min Allāh at-Tawfiq.
