Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla says in Sūrat Al- Fajr. Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm,
(Qur’ān 89)
“Wa Al-Fajri (1) Wa Layālin Ashrin (2) Wa Ash-Shafi Wa Al-Watri (3) Wa Al-Layli ’Idhā Yasri (4) Hal Fī Dhālika Qasamun Lidhī Ĥijrin”
“By the dawn (1) By the ten nights (i.e. the first ten days of the month of Dhul-Hījjah), (2) And by the even and the odd (of all the creations of Allāh). (3) And by the night when it departs (4) There is indeed in them (the above oaths) sufficient proofs for men of understanding (and that, they should avoid all kinds of sins and disbeliefs, etc.)”
Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla swears in this holy Sūrah. In its end, “فَادْخُلِي فِي عِبَادِي (29) وَادْخُلِي جَنَّتِي”, “Fādkhulī Fī `Ibādī (29) Wa Adkhulī Jannatī”, “Enter you, then, among My honoured slaves (29) And enter you My Paradise!” (Qur’ān 89). “Enter My servitude, enter My Paradise,” says Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. This sūrah begins with this oath and concludes with good tidings.
Therefore, these nights, the first ten nights of Dhul-Hijjah, are sworn upon and their virtue is immense. Our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says in a ḥadīth that fasting for one day earns a year’s reward. He ﷺ mentions those nine days. He ﷺ says that fasting on any of those days has a year’s reward. The Day of Arafah, the ninth day, is the most acceptable day.
On that day, the ḥajjīs are in Arafāt, the standing of the Day of Arafāt. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla has designated that day for our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam’s Ummah. On that day the ḥajj is accepted, and the acts of worship performed are more virtuous and generously rewarded. Because when the reward of the ḥajjīs and their reward are combined, it will be multiplied. It will be many times greater.
These days are blessed days, these are the days we are in now. Today is the fifth day. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla has bestowed this favor upon us for the sake of our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. We thank and praise Him ﷻ, shukr to Allāh ﷻ. We have both witnessed these days and been granted the grace and favor of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla.
Being from the ummah of our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam is the greatest honor. We must know its value. Its value is priceless. It cannot be measured by gold, silver, jewels, or anything else. But those who don’t know, don’t know. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla hasn’t granted it to them. They don’t know its value. They squander it, they boast about it. They leave nothing in their hands. On top of that, they show ingratitude. They commit an even worse sin. May Allāh ﷻ protect us.
These days are a beneficence from Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. There is beneficence, and there is trial. He ﷻ has given beneficence to the Ummah of Muhammad. We must appreciate that. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla’s oath, “Qasam” means oath. This shows their value. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla says that whatever good deeds you do, worship, or if you get up for Qiyamu l-Layl it is considered as if you have prayed for a whole year.
Some people think that Qiyāmu l-Layl means staying awake until morning. But our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam said that whoever prays two rak’ahs at night and then goes to sleep, and then wakes up for Tahajjud, is considered as if he has prayed for the whole night. Therefore, the night prayer is not difficult.
So Qiyāmu l-Layl doesn’t mean staying up all night. Allāh ﷻ has forgiven us. Allāh ﷻ even considers that sleep as an act of worship because you go to sleep with ablution, you wake up and perform ablution again, and you pray. Even your sleep is considered an act of worship.
Thousands of thanks be to Allāh ﷻ. For the sake of our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam, may Allāh ﷻ grant us all his ﷺ intercession, in shā’a Llāh. May He ﷻ not make our love diminish for them and for this way, but increase their love in our hearts.
Because shayṭān deceives people in every way. Most people don’t fully honor our Prophet ﷺ with true respect. The greatest act of worship is for us to know and appreciate the honor and value of our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. That is a blessing and favor from Allāh ﷻ, and we must not diminish it.
The love for our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam doesn’t require digging and breaking stones. Having this love in your heart is enough. Respect is enough. He ﷺ will be the one to intercede for you, his ﷺ intercession will be wājib for you and reach you. Our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says, “I will intercede.”
May Allāh ﷻ not deprive us all of his ﷺ intercession.
Wa min Allāh at-Tawfiq.
