More revelations about the Chilean miners: 22nd December 2010

In this second part of the Chilean Mining trilogy, Maulana was interviewed by CNN News and FOX TV one day apart. During these interviews, Maulana explained that Allah had created this incident to destroy the foundations of disbelief. How the miners survived under such trying conditions, and how Maulana had connected to them from so far away, defied human logic and cannot be explained by any material philosophy. This is a proof of faith and Spirituality, and the ultimate proof was when two of the miners, came to Cyprus, to meet the one they had seen when they were trapped. There, they kissed his hand, sat at his feet, and wept tears of joy, unable to explain the intense familiarity they felt with Maulana, and unable to explain the peace that had enveloped their hearts. Taking Islam as their religion at the hand of their Spiritual Saviour, they gave their allegiance (Bay’at) and took Muslim names. The inevitable spread of Islam and Spirituality to South America, has begun.

Maulana’s poignant meeting with Chilean miners: 19th December 2010

In this first of three parts concerning the Chilean mining saga, Maulana meets the miners and shares invaluable lessons on Spirituality, Love and Faith. Maulana’s genuine love for these complete strangers shines through unequivocally, and that in itself is a beautiful example of what Islam is truly all about. This miracle is a triumph of Spirituality over the cynics, it proves that a weak one, on an island in Cyprus, was able to connect to those in distress, thousands of miles away, and thousands of feet below the surface, and help them through their arduous ordeal. It is a slap in the face for those who reject faith.

Higher education doesn’t always lead you higher: 16th December 2010

Maulana tackles the thorny issue of people who spend many years pursuing higher education. He explains the need for Muslims to seek out jobs that are in demand – even though these may be the blue-collar, less glamorous avenues of employment. Honour in Islam is in seeking halal rizq; there is no greater honour in being a lawyer, as compared to working as a plumber, yet people nowadays shun such manual jobs, due to pride and ignorance. What is the point of being an unemployed graduate? So much that is taught in University today is irrelevant and of no benefit to society. Maulana has three interesting suggestion for graduates of this type of knowledge.

Special Suhbah for Habib Ali Al-Jufri: 23rd November 2010

In this very special Suhbah, Maulana spoke of the need to always be with Allah, and of how GrandShaykh Abu Yazid Al-Bistami (qs) was yearning to hear his name called by the Divine on Judgement Day. Though we are all covered in Mercy, being part of the forgiven Nation, we must strive to be amongst those closest to Allah, by shedding our animal-like attributes. Those who return like animals, will be placed in ‘stables’. Only clean ones, with Heavenly, Angel-like attributes, are accepted in the Divine presence. So while the animals remain in the stables, the clean ones will be invited into the Palace to have an audience with the King. Rasulullah (saw) said, “I was sent to perfect the human conduct. Allah has educated me, with the best manners.”

Return to your homelands: 14th December 2010

Shaykh Abdul Hamid was asking Maulana, what should we do to protect ourselves, our children, our families, and our loved ones, as we approached these last days. What must we do? Where must we be? How can we be prepared for the coming chaotic events? Step by step, Maulana dished out practical and sombrous advice concerning what we needed to do in these uncertain times, the most important of which is to return to our homelands, to move away from the crowded city life, and to maintain good relationships with all neighbours, be they believers or non-believers, locals or fellow migrants.

Why the Crusaders failed to conquer Jerusalem: 19th December 2010

This Suhbah explains a fundamental principle which must accompany every practice of a believer – sincerity. It was upon the warped intentions of the Crusaders – to murder believers as well as to pillage, plunder and desecrate the Holy Land of Jerusalem – that Allah punished them with failure and humiliation. Due to the compassion and justice of Muslim rulers, Christians and Jews have always been protected under Islamic rule, their communities flourished and they were afforded rights and dignity. The same cannot be said when Muslims fell under their rule – history is a witness to the atrocities that have been inflicted upon the Muslim community. Without a Sultan leading the Ummah, Muslims are cut off from Divine support and honour. Maulana also spoke on the two types of questions that we must avoid, and importance of asking questions that benefitted the entire Ummah.

Do not frown: 13th December 2010

Only a tyrant disrespects Rasulullah (saw). Allah Himself has placed Rasulullah (saw) on a pedestal, so who are we to disregard him? By increasing our love for Rasulullah (saw), we increase in faith, lights and Stations. A tyrant is one who objects to Divine orders. We have been ordered to fight the tyranny of our egos and to open our eyes to our own short-comings. Tyrants are always displeased with their Lord’s Will and unhappy with their fellow Man’s actions, so their faces are always showing displeasure, and their inner dirtiness emerges as an ugly scowl on their faces. Maulana says, smile always, and do not frown at others.

Living in a Palace: 4th December 2010

In this Suhbah, Maulana explains the dangers of shaitan’s incessant whisperings, and how shaitan always plants in our hearts the desire to seek, strive for and attain dunia, whereas dunia is but a fleeting pleasure. In doing so, Man has taken the advice of the cursed enemy, and abandons his eternal hereafter for this temporary worldly pleasure. So many Kings have occupied majestic palaces, yet where are all these Kings today? Death is our common lot, and we will leave everything in death.

Intriguing interview with Maulana: 12th December 2010

This fourteen question interview brought forth candid answers, frank replies and deep insights into a human being’s journey to His Lord. As usual, Maulana did not disappoint, dishing out such a width of knowledge and wisdom, in his succinct, yet simple, replies. For example, he summarised a mureed’s journey in one priceless sentence, and he highlighted the plight of women in today’s cruel world, where women are abused, exploited and traded like cattle. A must-read for every mureed!

Wearing a Black Turban: 9th December 2010

Every Sunnah of Rasulullah (saw) is a light in our lives, the more Sunnah that we can practice consistently and sincerely, the more light and blessings descend upon our dreary lives. It is sad that Muslims now emulate and idolise the Western way of life, even when such a lifestyle has no blessings and no basis in Shariah. How can we discard the teachings of our learned ones, and instead, trust the opinions of those who have no understanding of Islam? We must honour and follow the olden ways taught by our learned ones, and reject new ideas from the practices of those who reject Islam!
