Pride Is Only in Servanthood

Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

People are thirsty for spirituality. We’ve been traveling since nearly nine or ten days. This is before the last station; alhamduliLlah people are thirsty for spirituality. They are coming more and more. This morning we were in Kassel and we visited Kassel Garden. We were going through Kassel to another place. We met two people. One of our Murids introduced to us two people who are a little bit old. He said these people want to greet you because they are happy with spirituality.

One of them said, “Muslims and Christians have come together here.” I told him, “Believers have come together.” Because there’s no difference between Christians or Muslims; all religions are Islām. Those who believe in God and heavenly books are the same. It’s coming through ‘Adam ‘alayhi s-salām until Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. It’s teaching humanity to live as humans and showing how to be a real human being.

How can you be a human being? By being a servant to your Lord, Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla Who created you. This is the biggest honor for human beings. If you become a servant for other people, you cannot be proud of this. You can only be proud in being a servant for Allāh ﷻ; here is the proudness. This is what the highest one in humanity was: Sayyidinā Muhammad ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. We say, “Abduhu wa Rasūluh,” “His ﷻ Servant and Messenger.”

All prophets are “Abd” servants for Allāh ﷻ. Sayyidinā Zakariyyah, Sayyidinā Yahya, Sayyidinā ‘Ibrāhīm; all were mentioned saying, “We are servants” which means “Abd.” All this was mentioned in the holy book, Qur’ān ‘Aẓīmu sh-Sha’n. Every prophet said, “I am a servant of Allāh ﷻ. He ﷻ gave me a message and made me a messenger. And He ﷻ sent with me a holy book.” Prophets accepted everyone, even non-believers. They are people with the holiest and highest qualities. Nobody rejects this.

And they are the most valuable jewels among human beings. Al-Busayri says in his qasīdah, “محمد بشرٌ وليس كالبشر، محمدٌ ياقوتٌ والناس كالحجر”, “Muhammad is a human, but not like other humans. Muhammad is a ruby, but people are like stone.” Sayyidinā Muhammad ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam, our ‎Prophet ﷺ is a human being but he’s not like humans. He’s ﷺ a jewel like ruby. Ruby is also a stone but not like other stones; you cannot even compare them.

For this, they are an example for us, for whoever wants to be a good one, a high ranked one in the Divine Presence of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla and Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. Whoever wants so must try to be like them; to imitate them. They are giving their whole lives to serve Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla by giving hidāyah to human beings, to people.

Some people say, “Where are the prophets now?” There’s no prophet after Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. Because as Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says in the last Khutbah of the last hajj, Khutbat Al-Wadā’, which was Hajju l-Akbar: “الْيَوْمَ أَكْمَلْتُ لَكُمْ دِينَكُمْ”, “Al-Yawma ‘Akmaltu Lakum Dīnakum”, “This day, I have perfected your religion for you.” (Qur’an 05:03). “Today I complete your religion.”

And of course, this religion was coming through Sayyidinā ‘Adam ‘alayhi s-salām. 124,000 prophets were sent by Allāh ﷻ for human beings. And each one coming, sometimes changes, sometimes with more, sometimes with less. Coming through these thousands of years, through centuries. Coming and coming until the last ‎Prophet ﷺ, to complete and give to humanity.

For this, the last prophet, our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam, Sayyidinā Muhammad ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam was sent for all mankind, not only for one nation; but for all. Everything he ﷺ teaches is a hundred percent for the benefit of humanity. If humans follow maybe half of it or even ten percent of this teaching, the world will be like Paradise. People are not following and are suffering.

All what we see these days, before these days and after these days, people are acting according to their benefit, to their ideas, to get some benefit from what they are doing; nothing for others. They even think they’re giving some good things, good ideas to make it better, but even this they make seem like they are clever and they’re doing something. For this, everything is not going well with these people. Those who are sincere people who serve for the sake of Allāh ﷻ, everything becomes better for them.

These days, everything is becoming worse. Everyday people are running away more and more from religion. And in the last century, they were trying to finish religion. In the twentieth century, there was a big revolution against religion. They couldn’t finish it. Because people don’t have anything to give for their ego. So, all these, communism, socialism were trying to finish religion.

Stalin said, “Religion is the opium of people.” He died and people after him finished this system and threw it in the garbage. Stalin thought he was doing this for him but he was serving shayṭān; he’s one of the army of shayṭān. People left him but shayṭān has another. He has many of this army; different, different army. After the 20th century, the 21st century began and these people had everything. There’s no poorness like that in communist countries. They have everything.

So, that time, they started not caring about religion. In that time, he was using different tricks. People have everything and are seeing good things and bad things. But they want bad things and want to enjoy themselves more. He made people run more and more after their desires, their ego. He gave them alcohol. Alcohol is not enough. He gave them drugs also. Not giving attention to any religion; what’s forbidden, what’s not forbidden. They were not caring at all about this.

They started saying, “We are not servants for anyone. We are free. We can do anything.” And after this, they deny religion. They deny the Creator. This is what other systems couldn’t do. By that, he managed to make more than half of the world without religion. And these people don’t want to be servants of Allāh ﷻ, so they became servants for shayṭān. Some of these people are even proud, they say, “We are servants of shayṭān.”

This is the real ignorance our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam told about: “The Time of the Second Ignorance.” After this, Allāh ﷻ will help His ﷻ servants. He ﷻ will send the Savior, Sayyidinā Al-Mahdi ‘alayhi s-salām and Sayyidinā ‘Isa ‘alayhi s-salām. Because the time before our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam became a prophet was the darkest time for humanity. Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam appeared with his ﷺ light. He ﷺ illuminated the whole world. That was The First Time of Ignorance.

And now, we were saying about this time also, it’s the Second Time of Ignorance. Allāh ﷻ will send one of the descendants and children of Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam, to be just as Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam was: giving light to the whole world; taking away darkness and giving light. This will also be, in shā’a Llāh.

This war or other things happening are not as important as the situation of people is. It looks like a nice world, everything’s new; new planes, new inventions. They thought it’s okay, no problem in that. Today we were at a Murid’s home; he invited us, may Allāh ﷻ bless him.

Ayberk Efendi asked, “Why don’t you plant apple trees?” We said, we have apple trees. Even in Damascus we have an apple tree, a big tree. But something comes inside, and eats everything. It looks like it’s good on the outside but it suddenly falls down. Now, the war is like this. They’re eaten by worms, by bad worms, and have no power anymore.

In shā’a Llāh, it’s very soon that Allāh ﷻ saves us. May Allāh ﷻ bless you. We hope to see this: the whole world being in peace, in shā’a Llāh. Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq.
