Stay Away from Sin

Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla has placed different things within humankind at its creation. He ﷻ created both good and evil within each human being. Then He ﷻ sent prophets to humanity so that they could distinguish between good and evil. He ﷻ sent prophets to guide them to do good, to perform righteous deeds, and to keep them away from evil.

But evil is more pleasing to the human ego. Doing righteous deeds is difficult for them. They prefer things that are not beneficial to them. They constantly do them, they strive to do them. These things are much easier for them. But then there is an accounting for these things. There is an accounting in this world and an accounting in the hereafter.

A person who does not perform righteous deeds in this world, who does evil, who commits sins, sees the punishment for it. Everyone sees this, but they somehow cannot learn a lesson, they do not. Because their egos puts more pressure on them. They say, “Let’s do it now…” or they become accustomed to it. It becomes a habit; they put sin and reward on the same scale. They readily commit sins, but are lazy and indifferent when it comes to doing good deeds.

Therefore, the commands of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla are the most beneficial thing for humankind. It is beneficial both here and hereafter. An example of a sin is gambling. That is a sin. The person who does it will face its punishment in this world, before the hereafter. No gambler ever becomes rich in this life. All their possessions, wealth, and fortune are taken from them.

And on top of that, they will face punishment in the hereafter because they committed a sin. It is one of the major sins. Gambling is not a normal sin; it is considered one of the major sins.

Therefore, we must be very careful. Let us stay away from everything that is sinful as much as we can, in shā’a Llāh. Even if you are not performing righteous deeds, at least stay away from sin. May Allāh ﷻ help us, and may we overcome our egos, in shā’a Llāh. May Allāh ﷻ bless you all, and may our Friday be blessed. Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq. Al-Fatiha.

There are complete Khatm (recitations) of the Qur’ān, including surahs, verses, tasbihs, tahlilats, salawāt, recitations of Dalail Al-Khayrāt by our brothers. May Allāh ﷻ accept them all. May their good intentions be fulfilled. May they have happiness here and the hereafter, in shā’a Llāh. May it bring shifa’ (cure), barakah, and light of īmān to all of us, in shā’a Llāh.

For the sake of our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam, for the souls of all the Prophets, Saints, Righteous Ones, and mashāyikh, for the souls of believing men and women, Muslim men and women. For Allāh’s ﷻ pleasure. Li-Llahi Ta’āla.

Al-Fatiha.
