Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm
The essence of ṭarīqah is adab and love. Adab is important. The first adab is to have it towards Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. Islām teaches this adab. Islām is the religion of all the Prophets.
Apart from Islām, those who now consider themselves having a religion have done so according to their own minds. Therefore, Islām is a religion of adab. There can never be rebellion against Allāh ﷻ, nor to our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam.
The second is love. What is love? It is to love Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla and our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. Our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says, “اَلْمَرْءُ مَعَ مَنْ أَحَبَّ”, “Al-mar’u ma‘a man aḥabb”, “A man will be with whom he loves.” (Hadith). A person is with whom he loves.
So, love saves a person. You must love Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. You must love our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam and his ﷺ family and those who love Allāh ﷻ. You must love the servants whom Allāh ﷻ loves. Those servants are called Awliyā’u Llāh.
A Wali of Allāh ﷻ means a person whom Allāh ﷻ loves. Whether there’s karamāt or not, if Allāh ﷻ loves you, you are an Awliyā’. Many sometimes ask, “How can I become an ‘Awliyā? What shall we do?” Love Allāh ﷻ, love our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam, and you will become a beloved servant of Allāh ﷻ.
That love will save you both in this world and the hereafter; you will attain salvation. Because love brings comfort. Hatred and enmity darken the heart. They bring no benefit; they cause harm. Therefore, we will be saved through this love, in shā’a Llāh. May Allāh ﷻ perpetuate this love, in shā’a Llāh.
Today, an aunt, who was a lover of Allāh ﷻ, passed away. May Allāh ﷻ have mercy on her; her station is great. People look at outward appearances, but the matter is not outward appearance, but her inner self, MashaAllāh. Many testify that what she beautifully performed in hajj, even bearded and turbaned men could not perform, despite knowing nothing of outward knowledge.
May Allāh ﷻ be pleased with her and may her rank be high. She is with those whom she loves. Tomorrow is the anniversary of Mawlānā Shaykh Nāẓim’s passing. Today, that woman also passed away at almost the same time due to her love for him.
May Allāh ﷻ grant us all that love that was in her heart. Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq.
