Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

Jum’ah Mubarak, in shā’a Llāh. We are gathering for the sake of Allāh ﷻ. May Allāh ﷻ bless us all, in shā’a Llāh. Jum’ah is the day of every good thing. Allāh ﷻ gave it to His ﷻ most beloved one Sayyidinā Muhammad ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam and his ﷺ ummah, his ﷺ nation. Of course, every Prophet has a blessed day. Each of the Uli l-‘Azm, the seven Prophets has a blessed day. Allāh ﷻ gave them one day. And He ﷻ gave Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam the best day, Jum’ah.
He ﷻ created the first man, our grandfather, the father of all humankind, Sayyidinā ‘Adam ‘alayhi s-salām on Jum’ah; and he passed away on the day of Jum’ah. Also, Yawmu l-Qiyāmah will happen on the day of Jum’ah. And the opening, the resurrection of all humankind will be on Jum’ah also. Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam also says that in this day, Allāh ﷻ has given many gifts for us. One of them is that there’s a time in this day when Allāh ﷻ accepts the du’ā’ you make.
AlhamduliLlah, we are thanking Allāh ﷻ that He ﷻ created us in this time, the time of more reward for the ummah who’s following Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. Of course, this is the most difficult time for the believer, for the Muslim, for any believer. Because to keep your religion or your belief, Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says, it’s as if you’re holding fire in your hand.
Of course, it’s not by our choice that we came to life in this time. Allāh ﷻ created us and He ﷻ does what He ﷻ likes. We cannot object to this. And this is the difference between Muslim believers and the other nations of prophets. All Muslims of course, all prophets and other prophets’ followers, believers are in Islām. But we are happy that Allāh ﷻ made us like this and created us in this time. We cannot object to this. It’s forbidden for the believer to say this.
This is the difference between us and all the followers of prophets before Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. Even the companions of Ulu l-‘Azm, like Sayyidinā ‘Isa and Sayyidinā Musa. All these companions were making problems for them and asking things that cannot be asked by anyone who has adab with Allāh ﷻ and with a prophet.
Sayyidinā Musa ‘alayhi s-salām saved his followers from the oppression of Pharaoh. All these miracles came to him, and he saved them and took them to a safe place. They took their women and used them. They oppressed them and their situation was very bad. And as soon as they went to Sina, to a safe place, when Sayyidinā Musa left them to go a few days to a special place to address Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla, they quickly made a statue and were worshipping this cow. There are thousands of examples on how their belief was very weak.
Sayyidinā ‘Isa ‘alayhi s-salām also. Now there are those who say they follow him, but in reality, they’re not even following one percent of his teachings. Our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says, the most patient people and the most oppressed people are the prophets. And Sayyidinā Muhammad ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam was the most patient among them all.
For this, we were saying about Sayyidinā ‘Isa ‘alayhi s-salām that he was patient. Every time, every day a miracle. Hundreds or thousands of people were waiting daily to get blessed, to get shifa’ from him in everything; the blind one’s eyes opened and he could see, he cured skin diseases. He cured thousands of people with incurable diseases.
Here, we say to those saying that Islām is not a religion and do not accept Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam: these people [with weak belief] were the (most) closest disciples to Sayyidinā ‘Isa, the nearest ones to him and who are considered the head of the followers of Sayyidinā ‘Isa. And they were asking him, “If your Lord, your God Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla can send us a table of food to eat and to be happy.”
Qur’ān is a miracle of Allāh ﷻ. The only real heavenly book now from Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla is Qur’ān ‘Aẓīmu sh-Sha’n. When you read a word, you understand it and understand how these people were, how they used to think, their character, their situation. They said, “If your Lord can do this.” If you say this now, your belief is considered finished.
“وَاللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ”, “Wa-Llāhu ‘alá kulli shay’in qadīr”, “And Allah is over all things competent.” (Qur’an 03:189). Allāh ﷻ does everything. He ﷻ does, He ﷻ can do, He ﷻ has done. He ﷻ only says “Kun”, “Be,” and it will be “Fa-Yakūn.” But Sayyidinā ‘Isa was really patient. He wasn’t shouting at them. And he even asked Allāh ﷻ and Allāh ﷻ sent them this table.
For this, we see many non-Muslims, and sometimes Muslims also who are following them saying, “Why did this happen? Why did this happen to me?” Many are objecting; Christians or non-Muslims, all. But maybe these Hindu or others are patient because next time they will be a chicken or a mouse or something. They are patient not making problems, “The other time we can be better.” But Christians or others are all the time like this. Who had belief, now doesn’t have belief also, they don’t believe in God. They are objecting to Allāh ﷻ.
Sometimes I see people who say, “I left prayer. I am not praying for Allāh ﷻ.” In old times when we were children, when we weren’t happy with someone, we don’t speak to him, we don’t go near him. These people are doing this with Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. They don’t know that Allāh ﷻ is not in need of what they do from ‘ibādah; nothing affects Allāh ﷻ.
But shayṭān is cheating them saying, “Look, Allāh ﷻ is giving others like this and you are suffering from this, from that. So, you must listen to Him! Don’t do this!” This favor you do for yourself, not for Allāh ﷻ. If you are sick, you are poor or other, and you are patient Allāh ﷻ will reward you. And they make philosophy: like this, like that. In religion, there’s no philosophy. Only follow. Our philosophy is to follow. If you find the right way, run to this way; don’t go out of this way.
For this, in the Khutbah we said the ḥadīth of Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam which says, in order to attain the sweetness of īmān, belief, you must love Allāh ﷻ and Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam more than anything. This sweetness of īmān is the best thing for the believer. And to love for the sake of Allāh ﷻ, and to not love for the sake of Allāh ﷻ.
And the third condition, which was our subject now, is to hate becoming an unbeliever as much as you hate being thrown in fire. This is very important to not fall into a wrong thing thinking you’ve done something good: you are not happy with what happened or has happened. Allāh ﷻ has willed this. You must think that there are people who are a thousand times, a million times worse than your situation in many things.
Today, I was looking at the messages on the telephone. One of our murids in Dagestan has two sons fighting in Ukraine. One of them became Shahīd. He was just asking us for du’ā’ for him. His belief is very strong. This one, Allāh ﷻ rewards him and is happy with him. ‘إِنَّمَا يُوَفَّى الصَّابِرُونَ أَجْرَهُم بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ’, ‘Innamā Yuwaffá s-Sābirūna ‘Ajrahum Bighayri Ĥisāb’, ‘Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without account.’ (Qur’ān 39:10). Those who are patient, Allāh ﷻ will reward them without account.
For this, we are saying alhamduliLlah from the beginning of the ṣuḥbah, we are happy with what Allāh ﷻ granted us, to be in this time and in this place also, and every good place. It is a big favor from Him ﷻ. And we are asking Allāh ﷻ also to not give us any test, in shā’a Llāh. This is also an important thing. Our Prophet ﷺ, Awliyā’u Llāh and ṣaḥābah tell people not to ask for what they cannot carry.
May Allāh ﷻ keep us safe, in shā’a Llāh, until Sayyidina Al-Mahdi ‘alayhi s-salam comes and saves all humanity, in shā’a Llāh. May Allāh ﷻ keep you and your children, and the children of all Muslims and all mankind safe from shayṭān and his followers, in shā’a Llāh. Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq.
Al-Fatiha.
