Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

Welcome to you. Thank you for you. You are coming for the sake of Allāh ﷻ. Allāh ﷻ bless you, in shā’a Llāh. This is a blessed place in the heart of Paris. This is a gift from Allāh ﷻ for the Muslims, and those who will become Muslim later on. The first time I came here was nearly 30 years ago. When we first saw this mosque I was very happy to see this good construction, making of the house of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla.
They built it with clean money; no petrol money at that time. It was only alhamduliLlah clean money. For this, it’s collecting hearts of good people. They are happy here and Allāh ﷻ is happy with them. Many people come to Islām in this place. Allāh ﷻ gives them hidāyah. They begin a new life. A life of light, nūr from this place. Because this beauty is the heart of Islām, beauty in everything. Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says, “إنَّ اللهَ جَميلٌ يحِبُّ الجَمالَ”, “Allah ﷻ is Beautiful and He ﷻ loves beauty.”
So this is a very sensitive matter. Many people say not to decorate mosques, just keep it like stone and don’t put anything inside, just keep it like this. This is not from Islām. The way of the Muslim, way of Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam is to praise this place. You decorate your house, you make your house nice and good but then you make the mosque, the house of Allāh ﷻ without any beauty!
Tasawwuf, ṭarīqah is the way of Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. And they know how to attract people to bring them nearer, bring them to Islām, and make them Muslim. There’s something these people don’t understand that can make many people Muslim, become in Islām. In ṭarīqah, they understand this.
I will tell one incident that happened with us with Mawlānā. In 2001, we went on the last long journey with Mawlānā. We traveled nearly half of the world from Uzbekistan to Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and from there to Tokyo.
In Tokyo, one night we visited an old place but they said there was one mosque in Tokyo that was built by Turkish people. It was for Muslims, they gave it to Tatar people. The Turkish government rebuilt it as Ottoman style; it was nice. They said, “Many people go there. We will take you to see this nice mosque. Many Japanese are happy with this mosque; they come and visit it.” We prayed ‘Isha with Mawlānā there and he went to look around the mosque.
The Japanese people were maybe seven or eight people. They were all going around and looking. After that, they came and asked something. They were asking about Islām and wanted to take Shahādah. This is how the beauty of building (construction) attracted people, gave them hidāyah and gave them happiness forever.
For this, ṭarīqah, tasawwuf is the heart of Islām. May Allāh ﷻ bless you. AlhamduliLlah, we are all in this way. In shā’a Llāh, we be hidāyah for others also, in shā’a Llāh. Tasawwuf people are happy here and hereafter also alhamduliLlah. May Allāh ﷻ bless you. May Allāh ﷻ keep you all together forever, in shā’a Llāh. Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq.
Al-Fatiha.
