Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

وَلِلَّهِ الْأَسْمَاءُ الْحُسْنَىٰ فَادْعُوهُ بِهَا
(Qur’ān 07:180)
‘Wa li-Llāhi l-asmā’u l-ḥusnā fad‘ūhu bihā’
‘And to Allah belong the Most Beautiful Names, so call on Him by them.’ Ṣadaqa Llāhu l-‘Aẓīm.
“Whoever recites or memorizes the names of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla will enter Paradise,” says our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. These blessed names are the attributes of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. Some are special to Him ﷻ, while others can be used by humans. Some names are unique to Him ﷻ; no one else can use them.
Therefore, our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says, “Whoever enumerates these names will enter Paradise.” Let those who can memorize them do so. Those who cannot memorize them can certainly recite them.
Therefore, this is a beneficence that Allāh ﷻ has bestowed upon His ﷻ servants. Of course, the names of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla are countless and infinite. Different names were given to each prophet. Our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam was given 99 names.
One of them is Ism-ul ‘Azam, the Greatest Name. It is a secret. The du’ā’ of a person who attains that secret is answered; his du’ā’ that is accepted. Of course, it is only granted to whomever Allāh ﷻ permits; it is not granted upon everyone.
And those who possess it are hidden, of course; not everyone knows who possesses Ism-ul ‘Azam. That’s why it’s called “The Greatest Name.” “Azam,” means the Greatest. And it is hidden.
Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla has bestowed its barakah and special qualities upon certain people. And those who possess it, of course, do not deviate from Allāh’s ﷻ pleasure. The person who carries the Greatest Name fulfills its right.
Of course, there have been those who misused it in the past. They suffered Allāh’s ﷻ wrath in this world, and will suffer even more in the hereafter.
There is the famous story of Banī Israīl (The Children of Israīl.) Shayṭān deceived them, and they served a disbelieving king. Allāh ﷻ sent down His curse and wrath upon them. They regretted it, but their regret was of no use.
May Allāh ﷻ protect us from evil. May He ﷻ put these names in our hearts. May Allāh ﷻ grant us, and indeed all of humanity, the attributes befitting us, in shā’a Llāh. And for His ﷻ other names, may the barakah of Allāh ﷻ be upon us all.
May the barakah of those names special to Him ﷻ be upon us all, in shā’a Llāh. Wa min Allāh at-Tawfiq.
Al-Fatiha.
