Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

Today, shukr to Allāh ﷻ, is the last day of the year. It is the last day of the valid year, the Hijrī year, the Islamic year. This evening, with the adhān of Maghrib, the new year begins.
Everything is different in the Islamic year. All the acts of worship are performed according to this calendar. Therefore, may it be blessed and auspicious, in shā’a Llāh. May Allāh ﷻ send a head (ruler) to the Islamic world. May he bring peace to the whole world. There is no other way to achieve peace.
These are blessed days. As we said, the month of Muḥarram begins this evening. It is the beginning of the year. It is called the year of the hijrah because of the migration of our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. It is blessed; Allāh ﷻ has given it specifically to him ﷺ. Everything, every day has its own manifestation, its own beneficence.
They used to fast in Muḥarram before Ramaḍān. Ramaḍān used to be observed in this month; from the first to the tenth. Now, those who fast those days will attain great rewards. One will attain Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla’s favors. But the most important thing to fast is the 9th and 10th, or 10th and 11th. One can fast for as much as possible, but it’s crucial not to miss the day of ‘Āshūra.
People should take advantage of these blessed days and remind each other. When it’s New Year’s Day, according to the Gregorian calendar, they exchange congratulations and discuss what to do. They often forget the Hijri New Year. They don’t give it much importance, but shukr to Allāh ﷻ, the day of ‘Āshūra exists, and most Muslims remember it. It’s an important day.
These days are days that our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam valued and recommended to us so that we may fast on that day. Our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam, in opposition to the Jews, said it should be two days, not just one; either the 9th and 10th or the 10th and 11th.
May Allāh ﷻ bless it, may it be of barakah, in shā’a Llāh, may it be a means of goodness. May it be the cause of salvation for all humanity, in shā’a Llāh. Today, these days are the days when the blessed Mahdi ‘alayhi s-salām is approaching. May Allāh ﷻ grant that his rule and the world of Islām’s salvation soon prevail, in shā’a Llāh. May Allāh ﷻ bless it, and may this barakah be upon us again and again.
Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq.
Al-Fatiha.
