The Majority Are in Ḍalāl

Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

‘وَإِن تُطِعْ أَكْثَرَ مَن فِي الْأَرْضِ يُضِلُّوكَ عَن سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ’

(Qur’ān 06:116)

‘Wa in tuti’ ‘akthara man fī l-‘ardi yudillūka a’n sabīli Llāh’

‘And if you obey most of those upon the earth, they will mislead you from the way of Allah.’ Ṣadaqa Llāhu l-‘Aẓīm.

Allāh Azza wa Jalla is saying, if you listen to most people, they make you go away from Allāh ﷻ, away from religion, away from any good beneficial thing. They are in ḍalāl (misguidance). Ḍalāl means corruption and every bad thing. At the end of ḍalāl, you lose; you lost and lose everything. If you listen and want to be with those who don’t know Allāh Azza wa Jalla and Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam, you will be lost.

For this, al-ḥamdu liLlāh, those who follow ṭarīqah and follow madhhab are safe. But others, not only non-Muslim, there are many kinds of people who claim they are Muslim, but they also make you be away from Allāh ﷻ, away from Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam, away from awliyā’u Llāh, from ṣaḥābah, from Ahlu l-Bayt. All these are the majority, said Allāh Azza wa Jalla; ‘akthar. Those who are in the right way, way of Allāh ﷻ, they are few. The majority are making you go away; making you be in doubt. After doubt, you will be lost.

Because īmān is stronger than Islām. Of course, everybody is Muslim but not everybody is mu’min. Mu’min means believer. Many of the people believe different. Even in Islām, they believe that what Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ʿalayhi wa sallam was doing, even in what Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ʿalayhi wa sallam was saying is not right.

How can it be like this and everything has come through ulamā’, through scholars, through ṣaḥābah: what Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ʿalayhi wa sallam was saying and doing. And you call this shirk, meaning you are making partner for Allāh ﷻ. This is the teaching of Prophet ﷺ, teaching of ṣaḥābah, teaching of Ahlu l-Bayt; all of this. You forget this and make people doubt and after – because they are not connecting with ṭarīqah, just a normal Muslim.

For this, we see most Muslims now are a big group going, following these people because they thought it is right. And Allāh Azza wa Jalla is saying they are wrong. May Allāh ﷻ help Muslims to be awake. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla the whole time, since Adam ‘alayhi s-salam until now, has been sending people: prophets, and after prophets their companions, those who teach peope, awliyā’uLlah, ‘ulamā, mashāyikh.

They were sent for this: to keep people with strong īmān, to give them strong īmān to save them from these people. May Allāh ﷻ make us be with the good people; not with the majority. To be with: “وَقَلِيلٌ مِنْ عِبَادِيَ الشَّكُورُ”, “Wa qaleelun min ‘ibadiya sh-shakur”, “And few of My servants are grateful.” (Qur’an 34:13). In shā’a Llāh. Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq.
