Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm
Sha’ban Al-Mu’azzam, the holy month belonging to our Prophet ﷺ, is of symbolic value, being between Rejab, month of Allah ﷻ and Ramadhan, month of the Ummah.
Sha’ban is the link, a celebration of the impeccable adab (prescribed Islamic etiquette) that can bring creation (people) to their Creator.
Just as a common folk in society would need to go through an intermediary should he wish to speak to the highest authority of the land, so too would we, the average person, need the ‘Best of Creation’ ﷺ, to reach to The Almighty Creator ﷻ.
- Rasulullah ﷺ is The Channel to Allah ﷻ
Our Holy Prophet ﷺ is the only one, in all of creation, who can reach the Divine Presence of Allah ﷻ. His ﷺ love is our only salvation.
Allah ﷻ states in Surah Al-Imran 3:31:
“Say (O Muhammad to mankind):
‘If you (really) love Allah then follow me, Allah will love you and forgive you of your sins. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.‘”
2. Allah Offered His Love
Allah Almighty is not in need of creation.
All the Love that He offers benefits only us, His creation.
3. Focus On Your Guide
In order to reach this Divine Love, one must keep a close watch on the ego.
Focus on the one sent to guide us to His Love.
A connection to Rasulullah ﷺ is our only source to Allah ﷻ.
4. Beware of ‘The Little Destroyer’
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Verily, my greater fear for you is the Shirk Kafi (hidden idolatry).”
Hence, we must make a conscious effort to cleanse ourselves of the hidden deeds, feelings or thoughts that take us away from Allah’s ﷻ Pleasure.
5. Be Busy With Your Own Decree
The 15th of Sha’ban, Nisfu Sha’ban, is the night Allah ﷻ determines the provisions and destiny of each person for the next year.
Our Shuyukh, the inheritors of the Holy Prophet ﷺ, remind us to be careful,
- not to interfere with matters that do not concern you, and
- to be quick in seeking taubat (repentance).
With the baroqah (blessings) of the owner of this month, Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, may Allah ﷻ increase our love for His Beloved, and may our Holy Prophet’s love for us allow us to reach ‘eternal love’.
Al-Fatiha.
