The Heart Matters, Not Appearances

Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

There is a Hadith Sharif:

“إِنَّ اللهَ لَا ينظرُ إلى صُوَرِكُمْ وَأمْوالِكُمْ ، ولكنْ ينظرُ إلى قلوبِكم وأعمالِكم”

“Allah does not look at your figures and your wealth but He looks at your hearts and deeds”, aw kama qal (or as he ﷺ said.) Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla doesn’t give you Thawab by looking at your appearance, your face and eyes.

Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla looks at the deeds you do, at your goodness and obedience to Allah ﷻ.

It was so before, but nowadays people show more importance to the appearance, shape and looks. They don’t care about the inside. They are worse from inside. But they think, according to their own minds, they are beautiful from the outside. They suffer for their egos and go through various hardships. It is fine for their egos. But if you tell them to pray two Rakat for the pleasure of Allah ﷻ, they won’t even do it.

They do various things; they don’t eat, they run, they have surgeries changing their faces and eyes for their egos. That is for the corpse that will be rotten. No matter how beautiful they make it, it changes after a while, and they will do it again. While they go for the third and fourth time, life comes to end. Allah ﷻ knows if they are beautiful from the outside. It is according to their minds. But they don’t look inside at all. They only look at the outside.

You don’t see your appearance anyway, others see it. Allah ﷻ has given you eyes and ears. He ﷻ has given you everything. That is not for you to look outside, or for others to look at you. Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla created you. Make Shukr to Allah ﷻ. Ahsan ul-Khaliqeen created us the way it suits us. Our eyes, noses and everything is the way He ﷻ wants. No need to change and touch them. Look inside yourself. Instead of torturing yourself, look inside at your heart and soul. Even if you do one thousandth of it, you will reach the highest ranks.

Therefore, we should not show importance to the appearance. It has no importance in this world. Because the things are not done for the pleasure of Allah ﷻ. We don’t change our noses so that Allah ﷻ loves us more. We don’t plump our lips, we don’t broil our eyes for that. All of them are for Dunya, for the ego, for people to love them. It is not about love, they look at you with lust then. That is even worse. May Allah ﷻ protect us.

Shaytan is cheating people in various ways. As we said, Fitnah of the end of times is even bigger. There were not such things in old times. Nowadays, everyone left their inside and deal with their outside. Instead of dealing with their Adab, behavior and manners, they deal with their appearances and strive so that people look at them with lust. May Allah ﷻ protect us. May Allah ﷻ not let us obey our egos. May we be pleased with whatever Allah ﷻ gives us insha’Allah. Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq.
