Never Lie in the Name of Allāh ﷻ!

Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

وَأَنَّا ظَنَنَّا أَن لَّن تَقُولَ الْإِنسُ وَالْجِنُّ عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبًا

(Qur’ān 72:05)

“Wa ’Annā Žanannā ’An Lan TaqūlaAl-’Insu Wa Al-Jinnu `Alá Allāhi Kadhibāan”

“And verily, we thought that men and jinns would not utter a lie against Allah.” Ṣadaqa Llāhu l-‘Aẓīm.

In Qur’ān ‘Aẓīmu sh-Sha’n, our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says about the matter of Jinn: they heard the Qur’ān and realized that jinn, like humans, could act according to their own minds and lie in the name of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla saying, “Do this, do that.”

However, the right way is the way shown by Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. Therefore, those who lie in the name of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla and say things that Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla did not say or want, will incur Allāh’s ﷻ wrath and punishment.

Therefore, one must be careful about these things. There are many people who sell their ākhirah for the sake of this dunyā.

Some claim to be scholars, saying and doing whatever they want for their own benefit. When they tell people that this is Allāh’s ﷻ command, they face punishment themselves, and those they led astray also face punishment.

The punishment for every person they led astray falls upon them. They bear the same burden of sin. As much people they lead astray, as much punishment they will suffer.

Dunyā is temporary. A person who sells his ākhirah, his eternal life, for the sake of dunyā is foolish and has no mind. Because this life is temporary and short. To value dunyā more than the eternal life is not at all rational. That is both foolishness and faithlessness.

Faith, believing in the unseen, believing in ākhirah, is obligatory for a believer, a Muslim. Believing in them is fard. Those who believe in them are mindful. They do not sell their ākhirah for this dunyā.

Dunyā passes in an instant; even if one lives for a thousand years, it will still come and go. But the ākhirah is eternal. ‘Abad means eternity. There is no death after that.

Therefore, may Allāh ﷻ protect us. May Allāh ﷻ protect us from people who lie in the name of Allāh ﷻ and say things that Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla did not say. May Allāh ﷻ protect us also from saying that, knowingly or unknowingly.

And if we were to say so, our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam would say, “Even I would say ‘AstaghfiruLlah, Tawbah AstaghfiruLlah’ seventy times every day.” Therefore, we repent and seek forgiveness every time for the things we do, knowingly or unknowingly.

May Allāh ﷻ forgive us all, in shā’a Llāh. Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq.

Al-Fatiha.
