This guide is the second in our Shaʿban Series, following Guide to Shaʿban Muʿazzam, the Month of the Prophet ﷺ.

InsyaAllah, according to Mawlanaق’s calendar, Monday, 2nd February 2026, after Maghrib, marks the holy Night of Laylatul Baraʾah (Nisfu Shaʿban), the Heavenly New Year.

In his latest sohbah, Mawlanaق reminded us of the immense significance of this night, emphasizing that it deserves our full attention, reflection, and devotion.

Mawlana Shaykh Muhammadق also said:

“The virtues of this night are great, and it has a lot of rewards. It is a night when Allah ﷻ accepts the du‘ās and answers them. It’s one of those nights when He grants more gifts and more rewards to Mu’mins (believers) and Muslims. Allah ﷻ orders His angels to go around looking on this night.

Allah ﷻ says:
‘Is there anyone who is repenting so I may forgive him? Is there anyone who is asking for insan so I may give them? Is there anyone who is asking for health, cure, so I may give them? Is there anyone who is in debt and is asking for it to be lifted so I may lift this debt off of the
m?’

Whatever anybody wants, they can ask on this night, and Allah ﷻ will give them and will answer it. Allah ﷻ is the Most Generous of the generous ones. Everything is in His hands.”

*Dates may vary from country to country depending on local moon sightings. Kindly follow your local authority where applicable.

*The Night of Baraʾah falls on the night before the 15th of Shaʿban, beginning after Maghrib on the 14th, not the 15th.

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, 1st to 3rd February/ 13 to 15 Shaʿban

These days are known as the White Days, during which it is Sunnah to fast.

You may make multiple intentions when fasting: for Sunnah fasts in Shaʿban, on a Monday, during the White Days, or as qadha for any missed obligatory fasts you may have.

Night of Nisfu Shaʿban

“On this night, the Holy Prophet ﷺ heard the angel of the first heaven as he chanted: ‘Happy is he who repents during this night.’ And he heard the angel of the second heaven as he chanted: ‘Happy is he who spends this night in prayer.’ He heard the angel of the third heaven chanting: ‘Happy is he who performs ruku in this night.’

And he heard the angel of the fourth heaven singing: ‘Happy is he who makes sajda during this night.’ The angel of the fifth heaven he heard saying: ‘Happy is he who praises his Lord in this night.’ The angel of the sixth heaven he heard saying: ‘Happy is he who performs good deeds during this night.’ Thus he heard the angels of all the heavens praise the blessedness of this holy night.

The Holy Prophet ﷺ asked the angel Jibril (AS) how long the blessings of this night would last, and Jibril (AS) answered: ‘Up until the crack of dawn.’

For this reason we should try to spend as much time as we can in worship during this night, for Bara’ah means forgiveness and acquittal.”

Khatam Khwajagan

Perform 4 rakaʿat Tasbih Prayer

This is a four rakaʿat prayer, performed similar to Isha Prayer.

The goal is to complete a total of three hundred tasbih, which means seventy‑five tasbih in each rakaʿat.

The tasbih in each rakaʿat are distributed as follows: 15 tasbih after the Takbir, 10 tasbih after reciting the surahs, 10 tasbih in rukuʿ, 10 tasbih in iʿtidal, 10 tasbih in sujud, 10 tasbih between the two prostrations, and 10 tasbih in the second sujud.

Repeat the same sequence for the remaining three rakaʿat.

Perform 2 rakaʿat Shukur Prayer with Du’a Qunut

This is a two rakaʿat prayer with a prolonged sujud at the end. The Duʿa Qunut is recited in the second rakaʿat, similar to the Subuh prayer.

In the first rakaʿat: 1 x Surah Al-Fatiha and 2 x Surah Al-Ikhlas.

In the second rakaʿat: 1 x Surah Al-Fatiha and 1 x Surah Al-Ikhlas.

Perform 100 rakaʿat Al-Khayr Prayer

Our PDF contains two versions, a full version and a simplified version. Please follow what is manageable for you.

Full Version:

This is fifty sets of two rakaʿat prayer OR twenty-five sets of four rakaʿat prayer.

In each rakaʿat: 1 x Surah Al-Fatiha and 10 x Surah Al-Ikhlas.

Simplified Version:

This is fifty sets of two rakaʿat prayer.

In the first rakaʿat: 1 x Surah Al-Fatiha and 2 x Surah Al-Ikhlas.

In the second rakaʿat: 1 x Surah Al-Fatiha and 1 x Surah Al-Ikhlas.

Once you have completed the modified version of this 100-rakaʿat prayer, you will have recited Surah Al-Ikhlas 150 times. You then complete the remaining 850 recitations (bringing the total to 1,000) outside of the prayer, throughout the night.

In both versions, the aim is to complete 100 rakaʿat of prayer and 1,000 Al-ikhlas on this night.

If possible, view a relic of the Prophet ﷺ, such as his blessed hair or beard on this night

Night Vigil with istighfar and heartfelt Duʿas

Mureeds are encouraged to make sincere Du‘as, and an overnight vigil (qiyam) is highly encouraged on this blessed night.

“Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla is saying, ‘Ask.’ He ﷻ is saying to the angels, ‘Go. Look for My servants. What each one wants; he wants health, he wants īmān, he wants rizq, he wants a good life, he wants a wife, he wants to study opening his mind, whatever they are thinking. Go and look for these people who are asking, praying making du’ā’. Give them what they want and make their good deeds acceptable.’ This is a ḥadīth of Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam, and Qur’an is also saying this.”

– Mawlana Shaykh Muhammadق (full Sohbah here)

In his latest sohbah, Mawlanaق reminded us that while we may ask Allah ﷻ for many things, the most important Du‘a for tonight is for steadfastness in Islam. We should pray for ourselves, our families, and everyone around us to remain firm in the way of our Holy Prophet ﷺ.

He also emphasized seeking protection from harmful habits, bad company, and negative influences. The most precious Du‘a we can make on this night is to ask Allah ﷻ to strengthen our iman and the iman of our loved ones, including children, siblings, and all those dear to us.

Truly, this is the greatest gift we can give on this blessed night.

This guide has been compiled from the teachings of our beloved Sheikh, the late Sheikh Muhammad Abdul Sattar Khan, whose legacy continues at our Zawiyah at A’Posh Bizhub, Singapore, through his representatives, Sidi Shalihin, Ismail, and Syed Muhammad, who humbly carry forward the path he laid with love and adab.

It also encompasses the teachings of great masters such as Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilaniق, Mawlana Shaykh Nazimق, Mawlana Shaykh Muhammadق, Shaykh Adnan Kabbaniق, Shaykh Raja Ashman Shahق, various classical and contemporary kitabs along with the writings of Awliya and scholars of the Naqshbandi Way.

As such, it is intended as a comprehensive guide to the devotions one may practice in these blessed months.

However, as Mawlanaق has often reminded us, any form of worship is accepted by Allah ﷻ, no matter how small. We should always strive to do good, even in small amounts, for what matters most is sincerity and consistency.

One should not feel disheartened or overwhelmed and abandon worship altogether. No matter the measure of our deeds, our duty is to keep striving to improve in this beautiful Way. We are truly blessed to have Mawlanaق’s guidance always.

We pray this guide brings benefit, provides clarity, and supports you on your journey.

We seek forgiveness for any shortcomings or errors.
