“The Night of Glory is better than a thousand months.” [Qur’an 97:3]
This guide is the second in our Ramadan Series, following Guide to Ramadan, the Sultan of Months & Shawwal.
Most of the sacred month of Ramadan has passed, but its most sacred part still remains. On Laylatul Qadr, a single night of worship outweighs a thousand months, more than 83 years and 4 months. For most of us, that is more than a lifetime.
Although Laylatul Qadr may occur at any time, we are especially encouraged to seek it in these last ten nights.
InsyaAllah, according to Mawlanaق’s calendar, Monday, 16th March 2026, after Maghrib, marks the blessed Night of Power, the Laylatul Qadr of the Masses.
*Dates may vary from country to country depending on local moon sightings. Kindly follow your local authority where applicable.
*The Night of Power falls on the night preceding the 27th of Ramadan, beginning after Maghrib on the 26th, not the 27th.
Monday, 9th March/ 19 Ramadan
The Last Ten Nights Begin.
Night of 20th Ramadan.
“When the race horse knows that it is nearing the end of the track, it exerts all of its effort to win the race. Do not allow the race horse to be more clever than you. For indeed, deeds are judged by their conclusions. So if you didn’t do well with welcoming Ramadan, then perhaps you will do better bidding it farewell.”
— Ibn al-Jawziرحمه الله
Below are the full recommended practices of the Last Ten Nights, performed according to one’s ability (PDF with clickable links here):

During the Day
① Keep your homes and bodies clean, and most importantly, keep your hearts clean.
Beware of foul odours, as they prevent the angels from approaching with blessings. Maintain cleanliness and fragrance in your clothing, your bodies, and keep your mouths and hearts pure at all times.
② Complete your Daily Adab & Awrad.
③ Increase in Salawat & Istighfar, seeking sincere repentance.
From Maghrib Onwards
④ Avoid heavy meals & pungent food.
⑤ Begin each night with charity, no matter how small the amount.
⑥ Make intention for iktikaf.
For men it is performed in the mosque, while for women it may be done in their homes.
“I‘tikaf means spending the last ten days of Ramadan in a mosque or a place where it is prayed five times a day. It is a sunnah of our Holy Prophet ﷺ. Our Holy Prophet ﷺ never skipped it.
Certainly, i‘tikaf must be made for ten days. However, people may do it less; as much as they can. When entering a mosque or a masjid, they write above the door, “Nawaytu sunnata l-I‘tikaf”. Which means, “I make intention to make i‘tikaf.” You attain its thawab then.
For men, it is made in a mosque, in a masjid or in a dergah where they pray the five times. They must not talk about worldly things but perform worship. As for eating, eat normally. It is not like in the 40-day Khalwa (seclusion).”
— Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Adilق, Make Intention for I’tikāf
⑦ Perform 20 rakaat of Tarawih & 3 rakaat Witr Prayer.
⑧ Perform Tasbih & Shukr Prayers.
Recommended Nightly Recitations
⑨ Recite the Shahada 3 times.
⑩ Recite Surah Al-Qadr 7 times to seek the blessings of Laylatul Qadr.
⑪ Recite Surah Al-Ikhlas 3 times. As Mawlanaق said, it is equivalent to one Khatam (complete recitation) of the Qur’an.
⑫ Speak less and recite the Prayer of Forgiveness. Mawlanaق reminded us that the Prophet ﷺ would make these du’as every night.
“Allahumma inni as’aluka l-‘afwa wa-l-‘afiyata wa-l-mu‘afata t-da’imah fi d-dini wa d-dunya wa-l-akhirah.”
“Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibbu l-ʻafwa fa-‘fu ‘anna.”
Meaning: O Allah, I ask You for forgiveness, for well-being, and for continuous protection and safety in my religion, in this worldly life, and in the Hereafter.
O Allah, You are Most Forgiving, and You love forgiveness, so forgive us.
— Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Adilق, Laylatul-Qadr – A Precious Night
⑬ Recite the Farewell Ramadan Poem.
Recommended Nightly Routine
⑭ Revive the night with Qiyamu l-Layl by praying at least 2 rakaat after ‘Isha.
“Our Prophet salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says, if you pray ‘Isha prayer, then perform Qiyamu l-Layl prayer and wake up for tahajjud before Fajr, it is as if you have revived the night.“
— Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Adilق, How to Reach Laylatu l-Qadr
⑮ Spend the nights in worship and abundant du’as, both for your worldly needs and for your akhirah.
⑯ Pray to receive the full blessings of Laylatul Qadr.
Pray to be dressed in Ikhlas (sincerity) and granted Husnul Khotimah (a good end in faith). Ask to be in the service of Sayyidina Mahdi (AS) and Sayyidina Isa (AS). Ask for the gifts that allow us to serve the Ummah. Ask that the Name of Allah ﷻ be stamped upon our hearts, which is the meaning of Naqshband.
As Mawlana Shaykh Nazimق reminded us, whoever has the Name of Allah ﷻ stamped upon his heart will never enter Hellfire.
⑰ Be present and sincere in your worship, and be mindful of what empties it.
Tuesday, 10th March/ 20 Ramadan
The Last 10 Days, referred to as Days of Salvation.
Recite abundantly: “Allahumma innaka afuwwun tuhibbul afwa fa’fu annee.”
Meaning: O Allah ﷻ, indeed You are Most Forgiving, You love forgiveness, so forgive me.
Night of 21st Ramadan – Martyrdom of Imam Ali, the 4th Caliph of the Prophet ﷺ.
Friday, 13th March/ 23 Ramadan
Please note that this may be the Last Friday of Ramadan in some countries.

Additional Practices for the Last Friday of Ramadan:
① Khusoma Prayer as taught by Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilaniق
② Recite this du’a:
“Allahumma la taj ‘alhu akhira al ‘ahdi min siya mina iyyah, fa’in ja ‘altahu faj ‘alni marhuman wa la taj ‘alni mahroomaa.”
Meaning: O Allah, (please) do not make it the last of our fasting in this month but if You decide so, then (please) make me enjoy (Your) mercy and do not make me deprived (of it).
Monday, 16th March/ 26 Ramadan
“This night is Laylatu l-Qadr. It is a night better than a thousand months, says Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla. A thousand months is a person’s lifetime. It is the age most people live; if you take out one’s childhood. Everyone will have received the virtue of about 90 years in one night.
Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla says that Laylatu l-Qadr is even better than that [thousand months]. So, everyone seeks Laylatu l-Qadr. If it manifests upon a person, all kinds of goodness will be granted to him.”
— Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Adilق, Better Than a Thousand Months
In honour of Isra’ Mi‘raj, which took place on the 27th of Rajab, the night preceding the 27th of Ramadan is widely regarded by many scholars as the Laylatul Qadr of the Masses.
Some believers may experience their personal Laylatul Qadr on other nights. However, the 27th night carries a special honour for everyone.
Even if you believe you have already found your Laylatul Qadr, do not allow this night to pass without seeking its blessings.
Spend it in devotion and worship, sincerely seeking Allah ﷻ’s forgiveness, love, and guidance.
Below are the full recommended practices for Laylatul Qadr, performed according to one’s ability (PDF with clickable links here):

① Perform a ritual bath (ghusl), followed by two rakaat Solatul Wudhu.
② Make Intention for Seclusion.
③ Complete Adab & Awrad.
④ Make Intention to fast the next day and complete 20 rakaat of Tarawih & 3 rakaat Witr Prayer.
⑤ Perform the Tasbih & Shukr Prayers.
⑥ Recite Astaghfirullah at least 100 times.
⑦ Recite Salawat at least 100 times:“Allahumma Salli ‘ala Muhammadin wa ‘ala ali Muhammadin wa sallim.”
⑧ Pray at least 2 rakaat Qiyam ul-Layl before sleeping and wake before Fajr for Tahajjud.
⑨ Spend the remainder of the night in Du’a, dhikr, Awrad & recitation of the Qur’an until Fajr.
⑩ Be present and sincere in your worship, and ask Allah Almighty fervently.
Additional Devotions:
⑪ Recite the Shahada 3 times.
⑫ Recite Grandshaykh’s Du’a Al-Mathur.
⑬ Perform Khatam Khwajagan & Dhikr.
⑭ Recite Surah Al-Qadr 7 times.
⑮ Recite abundantly: “Allahumma innaka afuwwun tuhibbul afwa fa’fu annee.”
Meaning: O Allah ﷻ, indeed You are Most Forgiving, You love forgiveness, so forgive me.

⑯ Perform the Laylatul Qadr Prayer.
In her Sohbah, Hajja Rukiye Sultan mentioned the following:
There is a prayer of four rak‘ats after Tarawih and after the Witr wajib.
Make the intention for four rakaats of Salat Lailatul Qadr. In each rak‘ah, recite:
- Surah Al-Fatiha once
- Surah At-Takathur once
- Surah Al-Ikhlas three times
After completing the prayer and giving salam, recite:
- Astaghfirullah 100 times
- Allahumma salli ‘ala Muhammadin wa ‘ala ali Muhammadin wa sallim 100 times
Then make du‘a for whatever you wish. This is the special prayer for that holy night.
⑰ Perform the Khayr Prayer.
In his book, Shaykh Adnan Kabbaniق wrote:
“The one hundred rakaʿats of sunnah that are performed on this night will bring upon us the blessings of a thousand months of worship, or more. The degree of one’s reward depends on the level of sincerity and love present in the worship: love for Allah ﷻ, love for Rasulullah ﷺ, and love for AwliyaAllah.
According to the depth of this love, some will receive the reward of one hundred thousand months, others a million months, and others an infinite number of months. Therefore, approach the worship of this night with reverence and cherish every moment of this blessed night.
Remember to be present with Allah ﷻ during your prayers. Many people pray while their bodies stand in worship, but their hearts and minds remain with their thoughts, distractions, and worldly matters. Be with Allah ﷻ in love, and you will be rewarded accordingly.”
⑱ End with Ihda (Dedication).

Tuesday, 17th March/ 27 Ramadan
It is encouraged, if you have the means, to make two animal sacrifices (Qurban) for the sake of Allah Almighty, to thank Him and to amend any shortcomings in our fasts. One should offer the sacrifice on behalf of Rasulullah ﷺ and for the people of the Tariqah, distributing the meat to the poor and needy.
This was the lifelong practice of Grandshaykh Abdullah ad-Daghestaniق.

“Allah ﷻ gives salam in this night. All the doors of the Heavens are open. All the angels are ready. Allah ﷻ, with His divine command, orders Jibril (AS), Israfil (AS), Mika’il (AS), and all the angels to descend to the Earth to give salam to His servants, the Muslims who are honoring that night. Those who are in their homes praying, reading Qur’an, making du‘a, staying awake, or even sleeping a little and waking again.
On this holy night, the angels bring down four flags from the Heavens. One flag is Liwa al-Hamd, the flag of praise and thankfulness, and they place it on top of the Ka‘bah. The second flag is Liwa al-Maghfirah, the flag of forgiveness, and they place it on the grave of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. The third flag is Liwa al-Karamah, the flag of honor, and they place it on Masjid al-Aqsa. The fourth flag is Liwa ar-Rahmah, the flag of mercy, and they keep it between the Heavens and the Earth.
On Laylatul Qadr, the angels visit every Muslim and every believing house. Some angels give salam from outside the house. Some enter the house, give salam, and leave. Some hug the person and give salam. And there are some houses where Allah ﷻ Himself gives salam directly to the people inside.”
— Hajja Rukiye Sultan, The Blessings of Laylatul Qadr
May Allah ﷻ grant us all a night filled with barakah and divine acceptance.
May He ﷻ include us among those to whom the angels descend with salam, whose homes are visited on this blessed night, and who are honoured by the mercy that Allah sends down between the Heavens and the Earth. May He keep us far from those with impure hearts and corrupt intentions, in this world and in the Hereafter.
May our prayers be accepted, our hearts illuminated with His mercy, and our efforts rewarded in abundance. Ameen.

This guide has been compiled from the teachings of our beloved Sheikh, the late Sheikh Muhammad Abdul Sattar Khan, whose legacy continues at our Zawiyah at A’Posh Bizhub, Singapore, through his representatives, Sidi Shalihin, Ismail, and Syed Muhammad, who humbly carry forward the path he laid with sincerity.
It also encompasses the teachings of great masters such as Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilaniق, Mawlana Shaykh Nazimق, Mawlana Shaykh Muhammadق, Shaykh Adnan Kabbaniق, various classical and contemporary kitabs along with the writings of Awliya and scholars of the Naqshbandi Way.
As such, it is intended as a comprehensive guide to the devotions one may practice on this blessed day.
However, as Mawlanaق has often reminded us, any form of worship is accepted by Allah ﷻ, no matter how small. We should always strive to do good, even in small amounts, for what matters most is sincerity and consistency.
One should not feel disheartened or overwhelmed and abandon worship altogether. No matter the measure of our deeds, our duty is to keep striving to improve in this beautiful Way. We are truly blessed to have Mawlanaق’s guidance always.
We pray this guide brings benefit, provides clarity, and supports you on your journey.
We seek forgiveness for any shortcomings or errors.
