A‘ūdhu Billāhi Minash-shayṭāni r-rajīm. Bismillāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm.
AlhamduliLlah the Mashāyikh teach us how to be in this life, how to manage to be happy in this life. And the first thing is to thank Allāh ﷻ every time. Make Shukr for Allāh ﷻ. Because, ‘بالشكر تدوم النعم وتكثر’, ‘With gratitude do favors perpetuate and multiply.’ With being thankful, what Allāh ﷻ gives you continues without cutting and becomes more. Shukr for what He ﷻ gave us, for Iman first. Shukr for our health, our good health, and for our provision also. We are thanking for everything. Everything you remember, whatever comes to your mind, say Shukran li-Llah.
This is special. Allāh ﷻ gave it for believers who believe that everything is coming from Allāh ﷻ. They are patient and they are not complaining about their life for people. Because complaining to other people means, as Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says, you are not happy with Allāh ﷻ. Telling people about your situation, “My situation is not good. My situation is bad. I am not happy. My life is not good.” For whom are you saying this? Allāh ﷻ is hearing this. Allāh ﷻ has given you this. Because Allāh ﷻ gave us everything. Everything is from Allāh ﷻ; nothing is from yourself. You are hard working, you are a good learner, you are intelligent so you succeeded; no. This is all from Allāhﷻ.
For this, the Mu’min, the real one is never sad for what is happening in the world, what is going on. Just looking, not interfering, not objecting. This is from Allāh ﷻ and we are living for test. We are just thanking Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla that He ﷻ keeps us in Iman.
When Allāh ﷻ gives you, you must – you can enjoy yourself, no problem; with halal not with haram. Everything Allāh ﷻ gives you, your life can be – you can enjoy yourself with halal, Allāh ﷻ will be happy with you also. No problem. You can have work, you can have money, you can have a wife, children, land; you can have everything. There’s no problem. When you are thanking Allāh ﷻ, you get reward also.
In Islam, there’s nothing as what the others are teaching: Monks living in monastery or other places, not mixing with people. This is [made] by themselves.
But in Islam, there is no need for this. To live with people, mixing with people – maybe sometimes you are happy, but they are not happy. There are problems. This is better than being alone, away from people, without any problem. With this [being with people], if you keep your heart, with all these problems, you are a thousand times better than monks.
Once we were with Mawlānā in Istanbul visiting one big Awliyā’ [named] Abu l-Wafaa. They showed us a little room; they showed Mawlānā. They said this is the seclusion room of this Awliyā’uLlah. Mawlānā said, “Now seclusion is not inside a room, it is outside.” With people, it’s more difficult than this seclusion.
For this, for everybody: to keep his heart among all these problems, he has a big reward. Allāh ﷻ will be pleased with him. Prophet ﷺ will be pleased with him also. To not put dunya in his heart- this is important, you can have the whole world in your hand but not inside your heart. Who does this will be an acceptable one in the presence of Allāh ﷻ. And he is very clever. Not giving any importance for dunya, not putting it in his heart. Putting it in his hand and spending for akhirah, to get reward from Allāh ﷻ from this dunya.
Because there are billions of people who have billions of gold, jewelry, everything – they left and are gone. They didn’t get anything. They left all these treasures, and they died and were finished. They have nothing with them. But who is a believer, when he spends this for the sake of Allāh ﷻ, all of this will be with him in the next life. Not like these idiot people. They put all their money, treasures and they say, “We will use this in the next life.” They found them in Egypt or other places. They put a lot of treasures in many graves. They thought they will use them there.
There’s no need to make all this [effort] tiring yourself and tiring people to put all of this for you. There’s a more easy way there. Like now, they transfer with electronic [devices]. They can put one coin and get a palace in Akhirah.
And those other people even in dunya, the thieves or those who claim are looking for antiques, they open and take all this money. They will also go without anything for Akhirah. Mawlānā was saying many times that this is for them a curse: to put something like this. They will open it [violating] their privacy. They will take all of this and nothing will be left. Because they put something, people will come and open it for them.
This is why alhamduliLlah, we are the whole time thanking Allāh ﷻ to give us – He ﷻ gave us this understanding. And the mashāyikh, Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam and awliyā’, teach us to not have dunyā in our heart, to not give it any value and put it in our heart. We must put the love of Allāh ﷻ and love of Prophet ﷺ in our heart.
Many people are coming – today morning we were walking and we saw people living in miserable places. They ran away from their country and came to find a better life, or so they thought. But they have pity for these people. Because they don’t have real belief that Allāh ﷻ can – they will get their provision everywhere. Even in this way: they are running from their country, they are suffering, they are doing this, that, and that, and they are coming here. And after that, in their life, most of them forget their honorable way of life. They do anything to get money or enjoy themselves with this bad way.
May Allāh ﷻ help us. May Allāh ﷻ send us the Sahib to take care of us. This is very important because without him there will be no humanity even. We are living in the darkest time of mankind’s history. The worst, darkest time is now. But after the darkest time of the night, light appears insha’Allah. After this, it will appear insha’Allah. We ask Allāh ﷻ to make it quickly insha’Allah.
Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq. Al-Fatiha.
