Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. What is īmān? Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm: “آمَنَ الرَّسُولُ بِمَا أُنزِلَ إِلَيْهِ مِن رَّبِّهِ وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ ۚ كُلٌّ آمَنَ بِاللَّهِ وَمَلَائِكَتِهِ وَكُتُبِهِ وَرُسُلِهِ لَا نُفَرِّقُ بَيْنَ أَحَدٍ مِّن رُّسُلِهِ ۚ وَقَالُوا سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا ۖ غُفْرَانَكَ رَبَّنَا وَإِلَيْكَ الْمَصِيرُ”, “Āmana r-rasūlu bi-mā unzila ilayhi min rabbihī wa-l-muʾminūna kullun āmana bi-llāhi wa-malāikatihī wa-kutubihī wa-rusulihī lā nufarriqu bayna aḥadin min rusulihi wa-qālū samiʿnā wa-aṭaʿnā ghufrānaka rabbanā wa-ilayka l-maṣīr”, “The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and [so have] the believers. All of them have believed in Allah and His angels and His books and His messengers, [saying], “We make no distinction between any of His messengers.” And they say, “We hear and we obey. [We seek] Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the [final] destination.” (Qur’an 02:285)
Īmān is that we believe in Allāh ﷻ, the Last Day, the Prophets and books of Allāh ﷻ. This īmān and Islām; īmān of Ahlu s Sunnah wa-l-Jamā‘ah is on this way. The book of Allāh ﷻ is eternal and pre-eternal. It is His ﷻ word.
In order to obey the word of Allāh ﷻ, we heard it – samiʿnā. We heard it and we accepted it to walk on His ﷻ way, to always walk on the way
of our Holy Prophet ﷺ. They are on the same way. Our way is the same with his ﷺ.
When our way is the same, we must know that everything is from Allāh ﷻ and not object to the things He ﷻ says. You cannot say this is right and that is wrong according to your mind. To something you said wrong ten years ago you say it is right now. People who said it was wrong 100 years ago accept it now. So it always changes. What doesn’t change is the ruling and orders of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. You must follow them. It’s wrong to object to them. It is not good for you.
Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla has given these favours to mankind. He ﷻ gave the whole world and this universe under their command. He ﷻ has granted everything to them. But they are leaving it. They leave what is necessary for them. They object and contemplate on things that are not necessary for them.
If you are clerk, you must do your clerk job. If you are a tailor, you must do tailoring. If you are a farmer, mind your farm. You must take care of that. And whatever you need for it, you can judge accordingly. But you cannot interfere in the orders of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla.
Also, they say, “I saw this in Qur’ān. I will do like that”. There is also a new fashion now; they didn’t accept ḥadīth, now they don’t like the Qur’ān as well. “This is right. That is wrong.” What do you understand? Who are you to object to the word of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla? To dislike it? Beware of making such a mistake. Because that mistake will ruin you. It will destroy you. You will be good neither in dunyā nor in ākhirah.
Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla created you on this way. Make shukr for that. Do not object. The wisdom of Allāh ﷻ and the knowledge of Allāh ﷻ are known only to Him ﷻ. Who are we to object to what He ﷻ says? If we cannot do it, we may not; that is ok. But to object and say “No, this is so and that is so”, if you live by thinking that it is like in the life of this world to say “I will object to this and I will object to that”, you will not attain anything. Contrarily, you will have a lot of sins. It is ok if you are saved with sins. But you must not lose īmān. If you lose īmān, you will not attain anything at all then. You will lose everything.
Therefore, we must be careful to these important matters. Shayṭān enters through this door to Muslims; “Don’t listen to scholars. Don’t listen to Shaykhs. Don’t listen to Murshids. Open and read the Qur’ān according to your own mind. Do whatever is said in it”. There are ḥadiths. But they don’t accept ḥadīths anymore. Don’t think if they are right or wrong. There will be no īmān then. When īmān is gone, may Allāh ﷻ protect us, people will go to ākhirah without īmān.
We must be careful. These matters are not a children’s toy. They are not a movie or a series. You cannot say “It must be like this or like that”. It is not a book. To object to the Book of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla is kufr. If you say “I don’t accept it” about a single āyah, may Allāh ﷻ protect us, you may lose your religion.
Therefore, we must be careful about this. It is a dangerous thing. Say that you don’t know. There is some wisdom whatever it is. Every letter, ever word is full of wisdom. There are millions and billions wisdoms, not just one or two. Therefore, may Allāh ﷻ give us from that wisdom, as “وَمَن يُؤْتَ الْحِكْمَةَ فَقَدْ أُوتِيَ خَيْرًا كَثِيرًا”, “Wa-man yuʾta l-ḥikmata fa-qad ūtiya khayran kathīra”, “And whoever has been given wisdom has certainly been given much good.”(Qur’an 02:269). Whoever has wisdom has a lot of goodness. Having goodness is saving your ākhirah. May Allāh ﷻ make all of us a means for goodness. May He ﷻ show us His ﷻ wisdom inshā’aLlāh.
Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq. Al-Fatiha.
