Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm
Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla says in several places in Qur’ān ‘Aẓīmu sh-Sha’n:
“أفَلا تَعْقِلُونَ”, “A-fa-lā taʿqilūn”,”Then will you not use reason?”
(Qur’ān 37:138)
He ﷻ says, “Don’t you have mind? Do you not use your minds? Be mindful.” Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla gave mind to people so that they see the bad and the good, to see the useful and the useless, to see the harmful and the harmless. He ﷻ has given mind.
People have mind. Animals don’t have mind, but they don’t approach some bad things. They run away if there is something dangerous. They don’t go for it. Allāh ﷻ has given enough brain to them. So they manage with it. But people must realize what is good and what is bad. Because when animals die, they will turn into earth and disappear. They won’t go to hell or paradise. There are only a few insects and animals that will go to paradise. And the rest, if they cause suffering to others, they will get their punishment on Judgment day. On Judgment day, if one is beaten, that animal will beat the other one. If it is bitten, it will bite back. And then they will become earth.
But mankind is not like this. Mankind will be punished for their deeds forever in ākhirah. Many faithless kāfirs will wish, “If only I became earth. If only I were punished for my mistakes and turned to earth.” But there is not such a thing. Why? Because Allāh ﷻ gave them mind so that they realize what happens with that mind, to know the danger and stay away from it, to see the good and to perform their worship. Worship is difficult. They must work and earn a living. Mind is given for that. They are given mind. Not everything is easy. Those who work for this world go through hardship too. They have to work, earn money, do this and that. It must be the same for ākhirah.
Now, by the wisdom of Allāh ﷻ, Allāh ﷻ does whatever He ﷻ wants. We are in the middle of the coldest time of winter. But it is sunny and warm now. Foolish people say, “How nice! It is so sunny. We don’t get cold. There is no darkness. There is no rain. We have no dirt and mud over us. What a nice winter we have.” What will happen in summer then? Clever people make du‘ā’ to Allāh ﷻ in winter asking Allāh ﷻ to send rain. “May there be mud. May there be rain. May there be snow and cold so that we have our crop.” Everything is linked to water. Allāh ﷻ created everything from water. Without water, there is nothing. Clever ones are pleased with sunny days, as it is the wisdom of Allāh ﷻ. But they don’t see it as normal like the rest. There are many people who say, “What a beautiful day! We are going out and having fun.”
It is the same for ākhirah. There are many people who have fun and don’t pray. They don’t do any goodness and are not in obedience. They live for their pleasure. But this pleasure – The end of this winter is summer. There will be draught and no water. They won’t find any water and will start thinking what to do. Ākhirah is even worse. If you don’t do anything in this world, if you enjoy your days and entertain yourself, if you drink alcohol and I don’t know what and then ask for something, you will carry punishment in ākhirah.
Therefore, everything has adab and principles. You must ask for that. You must worship in this world. You will get its fruit in ākhirah. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla tells to use your mind. Know what is good and what is bad. Things that happen on time are good. When the time is over, you can’t get it again. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla advises us for that. May Allāh ﷻ let us all use our minds. May He ﷻ let us have minds and use them. Because, as we said, there is no one clever in this world anymore. “Give, give, give.” If He ﷻ gives, what will happen next? Nothing. As you give, they take from another side. You ask, and it goes from the other side.
May Allāh ﷻ send the Sahib. May he clean up as people have already lost their minds completely. They don’t even appreciate money. They don’t appreciate their goods. They don’t appreciate their health and their lives. They don’t appreciate the blessings of Allāh ﷻ. May Allāh ﷻ make us from those who appreciate, in shā’a Llāh. May Allāh ﷻ protect us. May He ﷻ send good rain, in shā’a Llāh. May the sunny days stay for summer. May there be rain and storm. May there be snow, in shā’a Llāh. May Allāh ﷻ give barakah, in shā’a Llāh. Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq.
Al-Fatiha.
