Two Types of Running After Dunyā

Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

Our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam’s honor and greatness are immense in the sight of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. This dunyā, the universe were created for his ﷺ honor. They were created from his ﷺ light.

It isn’t known how with our knowledge. But He ﷻ certainly created us and placed us here, in dunyā, in this universe for the sake of our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam.

Dunyā is nothing in the sight of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. He ﷻ just created it as a place of tests; [to see] who passes and who does not pass. Our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam settled here. It became blessed.

Bayt al-Ma’mur, the Qibla, the Kaa’ba, the blessed tomb of our ‎Prophet ﷺ, the honorable Jerusalem. Here, is both a sacred place and a place of test. Those who do not honor and respect him ﷺ will not pass the test.

Therefore, there are two types of running after dunyā. There are those who live for the pleasure of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla, for the love of our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-salla and for his ﷺ pleasure. And there are those who run after dunyā.

Both have been made easy by Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. He ﷻ eases the way for those who wish to go on the way of our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. If they want to go against it, then their paths are easy for them too.

Therefore, most people often follow not the way of our ‎Prophet ﷺ but the opposite way. However, the way of light, the way of beauty, the way of benefit is our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam’s way.

If they seek benefit, if they seek gain it is in the way of our ‎Prophet ﷺ. If they seek harm, if they seek badness, if they seek all kinds of useless things, then it is in the way of the one who leaves his ﷺ way.

If someone strays from the way and does not repent, he is harmed. If he returns to the way and follows our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam, he will reach the highest levels, his dunyā will be prosperous, and so will his ākhirah.

A person who commits sins and thinks his dunyā has prospered is wrong. It will never prosper. There will be constant hardship, suffering, and oppression.

Therefore, if a person repents from whatever evil he has done, Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla will accept his repentance for the sake of our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. If he repents sincerely, Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla forgives the sins he had done before.

May Allāh ﷻ forgive us all for the sake our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. May He ﷻ not separate us from the way, in shā’a Llāh. May He ﷻ keep us steadfast on this beautiful way, in shā’a Llāh. May Allāh ﷻ bless these days of ours.

Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq.

Al-Fatiha.
