There’s Good in What You Perceive as Evil

Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla says in Qur’ān ‘Aẓīmu sh-Sha’n: “There is good in some things you dislike, and there is no good in some things you like.” That is, don’t think of evil negatively. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla will create good in it. Good will come from what you perceive as evil.

Now, the state of this world is already clear. There is good in everything. For a Muslim, for someone who is in Islām, it is good. Nothing is evil, by the permission of Allāh ﷻ. Everything is written in our book of deeds. In return, Allāh ﷻ will bestow favors upon them and upon us in the Hereafter, in shā’a Llāh.

Therefore, most things that appear in this world are not actually as they seem. Shayṭān deceives people. Evil is inherently evil, but in this world, there are many evil things that appear good. There are shayṭāns in dunyā, even human shayṭāns who are worse than shayṭān. They take on all sorts of forms. They can deceive all kinds of people.

Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla makes the state of this world as a means to test people. So, we will regard everything that happens as the decree of Allāh ﷻ. Let’s see what the outcome will be; as they say, “Whatever Allāh ﷻ does, He ﷻ does beautifully.” Some people rebel against the decree of Allāh ﷻ; Ḥāshā (far from it).

They rebel knowingly or unknowingly. They say, “How is this happening?” Ḥāshā! “How does Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla allow this?” If He ﷻ didn’t allow it, nothing would happen without His ﷻ permission. Let these people repent and seek forgiveness for what they see. Allāh ﷻ knows what is happening.

Ḥāshā, are you going to teach Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla! Repent and seek forgiveness. Repent and seek forgiveness. Some people not only think this in their hearts but also say it directly with their mouths; there are many fools and mindless people who do so.

They say, “We are rebelling.” To whom are you going to rebel? Do you have anywhere to escape from the command and presence of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla? Do you think you will be saved by rebelling? Ḥāshā! Repent and seek forgiveness. Allāh ﷻ does everything in the best way.

Don’t be sad, don’t worry. Don’t listen to those who talk too much. See the truth. The truth is what Allāh ﷻ wants. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla is the one who does everything, and He ﷻ does everything in the best way. There is no questioning of what He ﷻ does. He ﷻ cannot be questioned!

This morning is a Friday morning. Let us all repent and seek forgiveness. Whatever has crossed our hearts – our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says, “Do not rebel.” Everything has a purpose. For those who are upon Islām, the outcome of everything is good.

Therefore, may Allāh ﷻ protect us. May Allāh ﷻ protect us from the evil of our egos, from the evil of shayṭāns, and from the evil of human shayṭāns. May Allāh ﷻ protect us from the evil of those who make evil appear good and lead us into sin. Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq.

There are Qur’ān Khatms, ayāt, surahs, tasbihāt, tahlilāt, salawāt, khatms of Dalail al-Khayrāt, and good deeds done; may Allāh ﷻ accept them all. For the soul of our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam, his ﷺ family and companions, all the prophets, saints, pious people, and mashāyikh; for the souls of all our ancestors; for the souls of believing men and women, Muslim men and women; for the arrival of good and the warding off of evil; for the strength of our faith; for happiness here and hereafter. Li-Llahi Ta’āla.

Al-Fatiha.
