Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

We are in Sha’bān, Mu’azzam Mukarram. In shā’a Llāh, after four days we celebrate the fifteenth of Sha’bān, the night of fifteen Sha’bān. It is a very blessed night. Especially that for each person – Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla is saying in Qur’ān, “فِيهَا يُفْرَقُ كُلُّ أَمْرٍ حَكِيمٍ”, “Fīhā Yufraqu Kullu ‘Amrin Ĥakīm”, “On that night is made distinct every precise matter.” (Qur’an 44:04). In this night, everything that will be in the next year: what will happen, who will be born, who will die, who will become sick, ill, rich, get married, not married – all of this will be written in this night.
For this, it is very important. It is one of important nights of the Islamic religion, Islamic calendar. It is very important. We, Mawlānā, all Mashāyikh were giving important attention to this night. It begins from Maghrib. We pray Maghrib then after prayer, we read three times Surat Yāsin; for Rizq, for a long life in Islām and health. Each time, you make an intention, and after that we make du’ā’ also. After that, at night time, one can pray Salātu t-Tasābīh after ‘Isha.
After that, until Fajr prayer, you can pray a hundred rak’ah nāfilah prayer. Normally one must read a thousand ikhlās (Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad) in this prayer. But Mawlana Shaykh made it easy for us; in the first rak’ah, two ikhlās; second rak’ah, one ikhlās. Maybe some people can finish it in one hour. Some people in one and a half hour. Some people in two hours. They can pray it slowly, slowly. Now it’s not short like the summer nights. The night is long here. You can pray and stop, pray and stop. It will be good for you, attain the reward of this year, and ask Allāh ﷻ to give you what you want.
The most important thing to ask is to be in Islām; for your family, everyone, to be in Islām, in the way of Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. To be away from bad habits, bad friends, bad people. To be away from them is also very important. It is more important than money, more important than gold, more important than anything: to be safe and clean. Because this dirtiness is found everywhere now. Wherever you go, you find this. So it affects you in everything: your health, your family, your friends. In everything, you’ll be affected.
For this, it is very important to ask from Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla protection from shayṭān and his army. Now they have a huge army. He has billions now. The shayṭān’s army are billions now. Not one, two, not one million, two million. They are in billions. If we have one billion, it is good. But it is not like this. Everybody is following shayṭān and what he is saying. They’re even saying, “We’re not following it”, but in reality, they quickly appear that they’re after shayṭān and his way.
For this, the most important du’ā’ in this night is to give us strong īmān, strong belief for us, for the family, for children, for brothers, for sisters, for everyone. It is really the best present you give them. Because Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says, the most acceptable du’ā’, prayer is the one you make for your friend or brother without them knowing.
To pray for them, to ask Allāh ﷻ goodness, the best for them, to be together in Jannah. This is a big reward from Allāh ﷻ. Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam loves this also. Without them knowing, if your friend is in trouble or has any health issue or has a problem with the government, with people, with anything, ask Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla to solve this problem, to finish it. Problem brings problem; goodness brings goodness, in shā’a Llāh.
This is very important in this night. And also to fast the day of the 15th of Sha’bān also. Every month, Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam was fasting three days, which are when there’s a full moon. They call it light nights because the moon lits up everywhere. Three days of every month; Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam was fasting the middle of the month, the Arabic month. We are not fasting every time, but when there’s some occasion like this, we must fast and Allāh ﷻ rewards us. There are many ḥadīths about this night and this day: about fasting them, how Allāh ﷻ gives barakah, gives reward without count. He ﷻ gives with His ﷻ generosity.
AlhamduliLlah people who are following ṭarīqah are blessed, lucky ones. Because they are catching every thing, every good thing and putting it in their treasury. Who’s not following, okay. There are many types of those not following ṭarīqah. There are normal Muslims; maybe most of them don’t pray and don’t fast. But still, they are Muslims. And there are Muslims who are praying, fasting, but don’t know about these nights or the blessed days and blessed nights. It’s just like any normal day for them. They are praying five times. And when Ramaḍān comes, they are fasting Ramaḍān. After that, nothing. They don’t have anything. These also don’t do much problems.
But the problem is with those preventing people to do good things. If they see you praying, “Why are you praying like this? You are praying too much. This is not acceptable.” Sometimes most of these foolish ones and ignorant ones even say, “This is shirk, this is bid’ah, this is like that, like this.” They’re preventing people. Their people, many people, unlucky people are following them and they are not making Sunnah, not making nafil, not fasting after Ramaḍān or before Ramaḍān. For them, there’s no holy anything; no night, no day, no man, no woman, no ṣaḥābah, no tabi’īn. Many of them are also saying about Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam some things that we cannot say here. It is not good to repeat what they are saying. These are unlucky people.
But AlhamduliLlah, we are lucky. From Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam until now, we are following and doing as much as we can do. We ask Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla, “We can only do this. There are many things Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam had done. We cannot do all what Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam did, but our intention is to follow what he ﷺ had done.” For this our Prophet ﷺ says, “إِنَّمَا الأَعْمَالُ بِالنِّيَّاتِ”, “Innama l-‘aa’malu bin-niyyat”, “Actions are but by intentions”. Intention is very important, Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla says. So with our intention alhamduliLlah, in shā’a Llāh, we all get this reward as we are following all the Sunnahs of Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam.
Allāh ﷻ has given other people also this luck, to be lucky, to follow this. Our doors – we are every time saying – our doors are open for everybody. Come – ‘وَاللَّهُ يَدْعُو إِلَىٰ دَارِ السَّلَامِ’, ‘Wa-Llāhu yad‘ū ilá dāri s-salām’, ‘And Allah invites to the Home of Peace (i.e. Paradise).’ (Qur’ān 10:25). Allāh ﷻ is calling people to Jannah, to the land of peace, Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla is saying. For happiness, for every good thing, Allāh ﷻ is calling.
So Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam is calling, and we are following this. We are also calling people who are away from this way: Come to Allāh ﷻ, come to Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. Come to Paradise. You will be in Paradise: in Jannah and in dunyā, in shā’a Llāh. This paradise is in your heart. Even if you were like Sayyidina ‘Ibrāhim. He was in the middle of fire and it was paradise for him. It’s the same for all of us. So we are calling people: don’t be away from this door. The door is open. Don’t be idiots not coming inside.
When Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla is giving something, don’t be late, don’t be away from this. When the tap is open, fill your pots with water. Don’t wait, “I will fill it later”, because not every time will it be running. When it’s running, quickly go, ask, take. When you find the tap open, fill everywhere. Don’t be lazy. Don’t say, “Later I can take.” You can’t know if later you will be or not be, and if this tap will be or not be. So this is also in everything, in dunyā even. We must be saying this also because people are sometimes asking about rizq.
I saw this written by one of our brothers. He is goldsmith, selling gold. He put a small notice there. It said, “No credit. I cannot give loan or credit.” The second one said, “When the tap is open, fill your pot, don’t close it. Leave it open. Don’t say I will close it and later I will open it. Continue.” Every day, I’ve been hearing since years, many people say, “My work was good. After that, I was fed up and I wanted to rest. I closed it. After that, when I tried to open, never.”
So when it is open, continue. In everything, in Rizq, in Ilim (knowledge), in life. Everything must be. When it is good, don’t say “Maybe this, maybe that. I must rest. I must not be working too much.” No, when Allāh ﷻ opens for you, don’t close the door of His ﷻ provision. You might regret it later. Continue. Everything is good by continuing. The good thing is in continuity. Don’t stop, don’t wait. Mawlānā Shaykh was also saying, our way is for hard workers. Who’s tired, who stops is not from us, Mawlānā Shaykh said. Don’t tire, don’t stop, don’t be fed up.
May Allāh ﷻ give us himmah, in shā’a Llāh to be like him, in shā’a Llāh. He was, masha’Allah, until the last day, he was with himmah; not stopping. Even now, masha’Allah, he is sending his barakah to people, sending people to ṭarīqah also. By dream or by inspiration, he is still giving us AlhamduliLlah. All of this is with his barakah. May Allāh ﷻ bless you and bless this month, in shā’a Llāh. May Allāh ﷻ make us continue, without being fed up, in shā’a Llāh. Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq.
Al-Fatiha.
