Summary of Welcoming Ramadan, the Sultan of Months & Shawwal

Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Hijri calendar and it is known as the Month of the Ummah.

Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Adilق said: “These three months are blessed months. Especially, the month of Ramadan. Allah ‘Azza wa Jalla granted more beauties to it, as it is the month of the Ummah. Wherever you are, you feel that beauty, everywhere.”

InsyaAllah, following Mawlanaق and Singapore’s calendar, Ramadan 1447H will begin after Maghrib tomorrow, 18th February 2026.

IMPORTANT: Dates may vary according to local moon sighting. Kindly follow your local authority where applicable.

Among the many blessed dates this month, the following are most significant:

•⁠ ⁠The Night of Allah’s Gaze & the Mawlid of Sayyid Sultan al-Awliya Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilani – Eve of Ramadan after Maghrib / 18 February 2026
•⁠ ⁠Urs of Mawlana Shaykh Abdullah al-Faiz ad-Daghestani – 3 Ramadan after Maghrib / 21 February 2026
•⁠ ⁠Nuzul al-Qur’an & Battle of Badr – 16 Ramadan after Maghrib / 6 March 2026
•⁠ ⁠Last 10 Nights (Iktikaf begins) – 18 Ramadan after Maghrib / 8 March 2026
•⁠ ⁠Laylatul Qadr (of the Masses) – 26 Ramadan after Maghrib / 16 March 2026

Wednesday, 18th February
Eve of Ramadan, the night of Allah’s Gaze

“Allah bestows upon the Ummah the Gaze of Mercy during the first night of Ramadan, and whoever receives this Gaze will never be touched by everlasting punishment.” – Hajja Amina Adil Sultanق

Before Asar:
•⁠ ⁠Clean home & body
•⁠ ⁠Fast to welcome the month (if able)

From Asar:
•⁠ ⁠Ritual bath & 2 rakaat Solatul Wudhu
•⁠ ⁠⁠Adab of Tariqah
•⁠ ⁠Recite Grandshaykh’s Duʿa al-Ma’thur
•⁠ ⁠Express joy in your hearts

At Maghrib:
•⁠ ⁠Break fast, sight new moon with its duʿa, recite Ramadan duʿa & the Welcoming Ramadan Poem
•⁠ ⁠Make intention to fast the full month
•⁠ ⁠⁠Additional: moisten face with rose water & give charity

⁠⁠‘Isha Onwards:
•⁠ 20 rakaat Tarawih & 3 rakaat Witr begin
•⁠ ⁠Recite Surah Al-‘Alaq in the 1st rakaat of 1st Tarawih
•⁠ ⁠After Tarawih, recite Surah Al-Fath 3 times and its duʿa

This is also the night of the Mawlid of Ghawth al-Azam, Sayyid Sultan al-Awliya, Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilaniق.

Thursday, 19th February/ 1 Ramadan
Fasting begins.

Recommended Daily Devotions for this month:

① Fasting with Intention
② Complete Adab & Awrad
③ 1 Juz Qur’an daily
④ 1 Hizb Dalailul Khayrat
⑤ 20 rakaat Tarawih & 3 Witr nightly
If praying in congregation, make it easy for others & keep Surahs short.
⑥ Increase Salawat, Zikr & Duʿas
⑦ Seek Laylatul Qadr Every Night
“Treat every person as Sayyidina Khidr (AS) and every night as Laylatul Qadr.” – Mawlana Shaykh Nazimق
⑧ Wake for Tahajjud before Sahoor, the best time to recite the Qur’an
Perform the Azan in your homes before praying Fajr.
⑨ Increase Charity & Distribute Zakat
⑩ Make abundant duʿas, especially before Breaking Fast
⑪ Make intention for Iktikaf, especially in the last 10 nights
⑫ Keep your heart connected to Mawlanaق
⑬ Eat and sleep moderately, avoid unnecessary talk & distractions
⑭ Beware of foul odours in the house, keep homes & bodies clean

The First 10 Days are known as the Days of Mercy.
Recite abundantly: Allahummar hamna ya Arhamar Rahimeen
Meaning: O Allah, have mercy upon me, Oh Most Merciful!

If this is the Last Friday of Ramadan in your country, here are some Additional Practices:
•⁠ Khusoma Prayer as taught by Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilaniق
•⁠ Recite: Allahumma la taj ‘alhu akhira al ‘ahdi min siya mina iyyah, fa’in ja ‘altahu faj ‘alni marhuman wa la taj ‘alni mahroomaa
Meaning: O Allah, (please) do not make it the last of our fasting in this month but if You decide so, then (please) make me enjoy (Your) mercy and do not make me deprived (of it).

Monday, 16th March/ 26 Ramadan
★ Night of 27th Ramadan, Laylatul Qadr of the Masses (The Night of Power)
•⁠ ⁠Recite abundantly: Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibbul ‘afwa fa‘fu ‘anni

This night is referred to as Laylatul Jaiza, the Night of Rewards.

•⁠ ⁠Sight New Moon with its du’a
•⁠ ⁠Recite Eid Takbir
•⁠ Night Vigil is encouraged
•⁠ ⁠Spend the night in duʿas and worship

This may also be the last Friday of Ramadan in some countries. If so, please refer to the devotions for 13th March and observe them accordingly.

Hari Raya Eidul Fitri

•⁠ Decorate your Eid with Takbir, Tahmid, Tahlil & Tasbih as taught by the Prophet ﷺ
•⁠ Recite 300 times and dedicate to all Muslims who have passed: Subhanallahi wa bihamdihi, Subhanallahil-‘Azim, Astaghfirullah
Meaning: Glory is to Allah and all praise is to Him, glory is to Allah the Greatest. I seek forgiveness from Allah.
•⁠ Spend the day visiting & maintaining family ties
•⁠ Additional Devotions: Khusoma and Shawwal Prayers as taught by Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilaniق

Sunday-Friday, 22nd to 27th March/ 2-7 Shawwal
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Whoever fasts Ramadan and then follows it with six days of Shawwal, it is as if he fasted a lifetime.” (Sahih Muslim)

The six days may be fasted at any time during the month of Shawwal, though it is best to begin the day after Eid (2nd Shawwal).
