By the name of Allah, All-Mighty, All-Merciful, Most Beneficent and Most Munificent.
In matters of spiritual pleasure, our physical bodies and our egos are never satisfied. The ego is greedy. It always asks for more. It is never content.
If you run after the pleasures of the body, your spiritual life will fall. The attractions of dunya will cover your heart, and you cannot taste the sweetness of faith.
You must pay something to get something. You must give in order to receive. This is a law written in the Divine Order.
If you give up something from your bodily pleasures, you will be granted from spiritual pleasures. If you insist on holding tightly to the physical, you will lose from the spiritual.
One side goes down, the other side comes up. As much as you sacrifice, so much you may receive. If you give nothing, you will receive nothing.
This is the way from the beginning until the end. The same road taught in the Torah, the same road in the Injil, the same road in the Holy Qur’an. You must give so that you may receive.
Understand? Everything has a value. For everything there is a price.
I go sometimes to Dalton Market. There you see rings and chains and earrings for five pounds. For a little money, you can buy plenty. But then you pass by the jeweler’s shops. If you show them five pounds, they laugh at you and say, “Go away!”
You can find everything in this life: a cheap one, an expensive one; low price, high price; valuable, of no value. And you are free to choose. As much as you are able, you may buy. At the end, everyone will see what he has bought.
The Prophets (AS) are like a man leading a caravan. At nighttime, they stop in a wide valley.
The man calls out to everyone, “O people, do not sleep tonight! You are in a valley full of diamonds and jewels. Take them! Fill your bags! It is up to you.”
Since it is dark, no one can see clearly whether they are diamonds or just stones.
Yet the man calls again, “Do not delay! This whole valley is filled with diamonds. Take as much as you can, for when the sun rises, finished, no more taking.”
Those who believe in him empty their bags, throwing away what they carried, and they fill them with diamonds without hesitation.
Some others say, “We can put in half from our own goods, and half from these stones.”
Others take only a little, saying, “Maybe they are real, maybe not. We keep our own things and take just a few stones in our pockets.”
Again the man warns, “When the morning comes, you cannot return. Please! Fill your bags now before the sun rises!”
The night passes. The sun rises. Suddenly, the whole valley shines with light.
Everyone looks at what they have gathered. And they finally see the truth. Those stones are real diamonds.
“What is this? Diamonds! Real diamonds!”
Then regret overtakes them.
The one who took only a pocketful cries out, “You big donkey! Why did you take so little? Why did you not empty your bags and take more?”
The ones who kept half their goods say, “Shame on us, why did we not throw everything away and take only these?”
Happiness belongs only to those who emptied their bags completely, who filled them only with these precious jewels.
These diamonds are your worship, your fasting, your dhikr, your service, your good deeds, your love for Allah ﷻ and His Prophet ﷺ. Gather them now, as much as you can.
For when the sun of the Last Day rises, this valley will be closed. No more gathering. No more taking.
Only what is in your bags will remain with you.
May Allah ﷻ grant us the wisdom to recognise what is truly precious, to gather the diamonds while we are still in this fleeting valley of dunya.
And may He ﷻ make us among those who rise on the morning of the Last Day with hearts full of joy, not burdened with regret.
Al-Fatiha.

This series was initiated by the SufiHub Team in honour of the 2nd Urs of our beloved Sheikh, the late Sheikh Muhammad Abdul Sattar Khan, who lovingly dedicated himself to transcribing and summarising the daily sohbahs of Mawlana Sheikh Nazimق.
It was through this blessed service that he began his journey on this beautiful Way in 2008, remaining steadfast upon it until his final breath in 2023. Today, his legacy continues at our Zawiyah at A’Posh Bizhub Singapore through his representatives Sidi Shalihin, Ismail, and Syed Muhammad, who humbly carry forward the path he sincerely paved.
We pray that our dear Sheikh Abdul Sattar has been reunited with his beloved Mawlana Sheikh Nazimق and all our Grandshaykhs, and that their light continues to guide us always on the way of Haqq.
The text was originally taken from Liberating the Soul – A Guide for Spiritual Growth by Shaykh Nazim Adil al-Haqqaniق. With love and sincere intention, parts of this sohbah have been gently revised by the SufiHub Team for clarity and contextual relevance.
If you wish to share it on your platforms, kindly post it in full and ensure that proper credit is given to all its sources. For this is adab, the very core of our beautiful religion and way.
Should you have any queries or concerns, you are always welcome to reach us at thesufihubteam@gmail.com.
