Maulana Sheikh Nazimق’s Suhbah

By the name of Allah, All-Mighty, All-Merciful, Most Beneficent and Most Munificent.

The greatest good tidings for Ahl al-Iman, the People of Paradise! When they enter Paradise, angels will greet them and say, “You are welcome to dwell here eternally. Whoever enters will never leave.”

This is the greatest good tidings for them, the divine guarantee that they will never leave. But for the people of Hell, the greatest sorrow is that they will enter and never be released.

If you could count as many atoms as the whole universe has, and also electrons, and for each electron you were to be in Hell for one million years and then come out, still the people of Hell would be happy, because it is a period of time that is numbered, and it is going to finish one day.

The hope of that day gives them peace, even while they are in Hell. It is such a huge, huge number of years, but they would still be happy and say, “Alhamdulillah, it is not eternal.” Beside eternity, that is nothing, nothing, nothing!

Therefore, when the people of Hell hear that they will remain there eternally, that is the deepest suffering. They will beg to be taken out of Hell, for even one moment of it is unbearable.

On Yaum al-Mahshar, the Day of Gathering, the Day of Resurrection, Allah Almighty will ask His angels to bring forth one person who, during his life, had the greatest pleasures, who was most content with this world, having every enjoyment for himself.

He ﷻ will say, “Look for that one.” They will bring a man who lived for 1,700 years, who had been king over the whole earth and had been granted every kind of delight.

That person will be brought, and Allah Almighty will order, “Take this person into Hell for one second. Put him in it, and then bring him back.”

They will do so, and Allah ﷻ will ask him, “O My servant, during your life of more than one thousand years, in which you were given every pleasure, which of those delights do you still remember?”

He will reply, “O my Lord, I swear by Your Name, I remember nothing at all. That one second in Hell erased every taste of pleasure I ever had during a thousand years of (worldly) life.”

If one second in Hell erases a thousand years of worldly delights, what about thousands, millions, or billions of years without end and without hope? That is the most terrible of states!

For this reason, many believers cannot sleep peacefully, out of fear of Hell and the anger of their Lord ﷻ.

Then, Allah Almighty will order the angels to find one person who had suffered the most hardship in worldly life. He ﷻ will command, “Take this person for one second into Paradise.”

The angels will place him there, and Allah Almighty will ask, “What suffering did you endure in life?”

The man will answer, “O my Lord, I remember nothing, nothing at all. All suffering has vanished.” All his suffering is forgotten because of that single moment in Paradise.

Such is the overwhelming joy of Paradise. If all the anbiya (prophets), awliya (saints), and ‘ulama (scholars) were to gather from the beginning of the world until its end and speak about Paradise, they would not be able to describe it. Their words would be no more than one drop from an endless ocean.

And the last person to enter Paradise, the one with the lowest station? He will be given ten times as much as this entire world!

In this world, one-fourth is land and three-fourths is ocean, and even of the land, half is desert or forest where people cannot live. Yet that tenfold portion will be filled completely with the endless favors of our Lord Almighty.

If this is the share of the very last person, then what about the others above him?

O people, this life is only numbered days, months, and years. It is going to finish. Every breath carries us closer to Akhirah, to the Eternal Life.

Keep your breaths for your Lord, Almighty Allah, and say, Allah, Allah… If you do not say it by your will, still your breaths are with each moment saying, Hu, Hu, Hu… This continues with every breath.

Whether you wish it or not, this Hu, Hu, Hu must be.

May Allah ﷻ keep us always in His dhikr, His remembrance.

Al-Fatiha.

This series was initiated by the SufiHub Team in honour of the 2nd Urs our beloved Sheikh, the late Sheikh Muhammad Abdul Sattar Khan, who lovingly dedicated himself to transcribing and summarising the daily sohbahs of Mawlana Sheikh Nazimق.

It was through this blessed service that he began his journey on this beautiful Way in 2008, remaining steadfast upon it until his final breath in 2023. Today, his legacy continues at our Zawiyah at A’Posh Bizhub Singapore through his representatives Sidi Shalihin, Ismail, and Syed Muhammad, who humbly carry forward the path he sincerely paved.

We pray that our dear Sheikh Abdul Sattar has been reunited with his beloved Mawlana Sheikh Nazimق and all our Grandshaykhs, and that their light continues to guide us always on the way of Haqq.

The text was originally taken from Liberating the Soul – A Guide for Spiritual Growth by Shaykh Nazim Adil al-Haqqaniق. With love and sincere intention, parts of this sohbah have been gently revised by the SufiHub Team for clarity and contextual relevance.

If you wish to share it on your platforms, kindly post it in full and ensure that proper credit is given to all its sources. For this is adab, the very core of our beautiful religion and way.

Should you have any queries or concerns, you are always welcome to reach us at thesufihubteam@gmail.com.
