Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

Our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says, “A person who seeks the approval of the people at the expense of violating the commands of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla is doomed to failure.”
If you say something wrong to please the people, so that they’ll like you, or because this is what they want, you will gain nothing; it will be of no benefit. Because humankind is ungrateful anyway.
Even if you actually do good, or assume you’ve done what’s good and rejoice, indeed, people often forget that good deed. When something happens, they will turn against you.
Therefore, the pleasure of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla should be superior to the pleasure of people. To obey what He ﷻ wants, what He ﷻ loves, and what He ﷻ says is the true gain for you.
Otherwise, if you act as, “I’ll do this so that this person will like me, or that so that that person will love me,” they will make you like a trained monkey. You will jump around, entertaining them, but it will be of no benefit to you.
Therefore, the true gain is the pleasure of Allāh ﷻ; that’s what’s important. You become of value in this life. Otherwise, you are a worthless, useless thing or human being or creature. If you do whatever people want, then you lose your value. You will have wasted your own worth.
What’s important is that a person is valuable in the sight of Allāh ﷻ. And he also becomes valuable among people. Even if one is poor, a person who is on the way of Allāh ﷻ is valuable.
May Allāh ﷻ make us all among those people, in shā’a Llāh. May we not become the playthings of others, in shā’a Llāh. Wa min Allāh at-Tawfiq.
Al-Fatiha.
