Secret Difference of Material and Spiritual Love

Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

By the order of Mawlānā we will make, in shā’a Llāh, a little ṣuḥbah. We came again to this place. Al-ḥamdu liLlāh, our intention in everything must be for Allāh ﷻ. To make this long journey to see our friend, beloved one for Allāh ﷻ; in shā’a Llāh, Allāh ﷻ make it barakah for us and for you also.

Al-ḥamdu liLlāh, after many years – we came here 9 years ago. We were saying to Shaykh Bahauddin, maybe we cannot come here again because we are becoming old and it’s a very long distance.

But Allāh ﷻ when He ﷻ wants something, al-ḥamdu liLlāh, He ﷻ make it happen again. Al-ḥamdu liLlāh, we are so happy to see all our brothers, sisters, daughters, murīds, all from Brazil, from Argentina. In shā’a Llāh, we continue like this.

As we said, we are not coming for tourism, to visit or look around. The important thing for us is for the believer to have love for Allāh ﷻ and love for who loves Allāh ﷻ.

When we see – Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says, when you see somebody who reminds you of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla, you must be happy. We are also happy with this.

Because when we see believers, lovers of Allāh ﷻ, lovers of Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam, lovers of awliyā’u Llāh, and they are happy, we are happy also.

Many times, we say, people love, love, love but not real love. Real love is for Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla, and for people who love Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. This love doesn’t finish. It’s growing and growing and growing forever, in shā’a Llāh.

But the other love, many people love each other like crazy. After one month, five months, one year, five years, most of them do not continue. Why? Because everybody has something; no one’s complete. Nobody’s perfect, nobody’s complete.

For this, after one month they see who this woman is, “She was like this”, who this man is, “He was like this.” After two months, five months, one year, five years, they become unhappy with this.

But because Allāh Azza wa Jalla is Great; nothing compares to Him ﷻ. For this, the love of Allāh ﷻ doesn’t get less, it gets more. The love for Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam gets more and more every day also.

This love for mashāyikh, Ṣaḥābah, Ahlu l-Bayt, becomes more and more because they are perfect people, good people.

And this is the secret of the [difference between] material love and spiritual love; why one goes on forever, and the other cannot go forever. Al-ḥamdu liLlāh, our love, in shā’a Llāh, is forever.

And, in shā’a Llāh, people are coming to this good thing, sweet thing, beneficial thing, in shā’a Llāh. This is purely for Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. And Allāh ﷻ will be with us, in shā’a Llāh.
