Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm
Maulana Sheikh Nazimق’s Suhbah
31 March 2003

Wednesday is the beginning of Safaru Khair.
Every day, recite:
3 times Shahada and 300 times Astaghfirullah, and give Sadaqa for each member of your family.
Insha Allah, this month will bring goodness to those who follow the holy Prophet ﷺ and keep love and respect for his holy family, the Ahlu-l Bayt. Do not worry about your future. No. Allah ﷻ is never pleased when His ﷻ servants are sad about their future. Sadness, darkness, and hopelessness are for those who turn away from Allah ﷻ.
Those who follow the Prophet ﷺ and the Awliya will find blessings they never imagined. But those who turn away from the Prophet ﷺ, his followers, and the Awliya will not find happiness. They will remain in sadness.
Yesterday, I was shouting because some people brought a new bed for me. I slept on it, and they asked how I felt, whether I had slept well. I said, “Ya Hu! The problem is not the bed. The problem is with myself. It is not the bed. If I am healthy and in peace, then wherever I lay my head, I can sleep.”
I saw on television that some soldiers sleep on the ground, on their backs, sleeping soundly. They are not asking for beds or blankets. Allah ﷻ protect them.
I said, “The real issue is health. If I am healthy, I can sleep anywhere and be content. But if not, then no place will bring rest.”
Grandsheikh Faiz ad-Dagestaniق reminded me of this. Today, people have very comfortable homes, with all kinds of furniture and modern tools to make life easier. But 50 or 60 years ago, people cooked with wood, washed plates with ashes, cleaned their clothes at riversides or in large buckets, and swept with brooms.
They used their physical strength for everything and worked with their own hands. They fetched water from springs or wells, carried it on their heads, and still, they were happy. Truly happy. Never complaining.
Now, people live in homes where everything is ready. Even I use a whistle to call people, as others use phones. But do you think all this comfort brings peace?
These days, I do not think anyone sleeps without pills. People have problems with their spouses, children, neighbours, their own health, or the health of their loved ones. They are always going to doctors, hospitals, dealing with endless troubles.
Do these comfortable homes and modern tools give real peace? Never. Because people do not feel peace within themselves. Furniture and technology cannot give that.
This is why I said, “If I am healthy, the bed I slept on was fine. The issue is not the bed.” But out of their respect, they said, “Let us bring him something better to sleep on.” May Allah ﷻ grant them health and wealth.
Modern homes, furniture, and cars cannot bring a life full of peace. Most people are living in sadness and fear. Alhamdulillah, we are not among them. The future belongs to the believers. Darkness is for those who do not believe.
Alhamdulillah, you are not seeking these worldly things, and you are content. This is a simple life.
May Allah ﷻ fill our hearts with satisfaction and hope for the future.
We cannot even bear a small pain, so how could we bear the punishments of hell? I kept thinking about this, and all night I was asking forgiveness from Allah ﷻ.
Al-Fatiha.
