Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

“إِنَّمَا الْمُؤْمِنُونَ إِخْوَةٌ فَأَصْلِحُوا بَيْنَ أَخَوَيْكُمْ ۚ وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ”
(Qur’ān 49:10)
“Innama l-mu’minūna ikhwa fa-‘aslihu bayna akhawaykum wa t-Taqu Allaha La’allakum Turhamoon”
“The believers are but brothers, so make settlement between your brothers. And fear Allah that you may receive mercy.” Ṣadaqa Llāhu l-‘Aẓīm.
Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla says believers are brothers. Make peace between brothers. If there is disagreement between brothers, resolve it and reconcile them. Whoever does this will have the mercy of Allāh ﷻ upon him.
Believers, as we said, are more of the people of ṭarīqah. Others are just – everyone is a Muslim, but those with īmān, are of a higher degree. Īmān is a great blessing. It is not given by Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla to everyone. By disciplining the ego, īmān grows in a person, and they attain the attributes of a believer.
The attribute of a believer is the attribute that our Prophet ﷺ loves and Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla loves. Everyone, of course, especially people of ṭarīqah, must overcome their ego and rise in the level of īmān. During that, there are many things, if a person does them gradually, then he will reach that level. Then, Allāh’s ﷻ mercy and protection will be upon them. And that is the best thing in dunyā.
The best thing in dunyā is īmān, not money. Everyone can have money. Pharaoh had it. Nimrod had it. The world’s most oppressive, most unbelieving people may also have the most money. But they are of no benefit to themselves, nor to others. As we said, the benefit is īmān. If you have īmān – even if the whole world is yours, without faith, it has no value.
Therefore, a believer must overcome his ego, and if there is something between him and his believing brother, let them reconcile. People who go on the same way must have love.
Our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam said a believer must love his believing brother. He is a believer. A Muslim: he can either love him or not; he is a Muslim. Who says “La ilāha illa Allah” is a Muslim. But to elevate one’s īmān, a person must break his ego, he must discipline his ego.
May Allāh ﷻ grant us all success in that. May He ﷻ not make us conform to our egos. Some things are sometimes difficult for a person, but when he does it, his rank will rise and he will become a beloved person in the presence of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla and in the presence of our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam.
The difficulties that a person faces will bring him happiness. He will be happy in dunyā, and he will attain rewards and thawāb in ākhirah. May Allāh ﷻ not let any disagreement between mu’min brothers. May there be love and compassion among them, in shā’a Llāh.
Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq.
Al-Fatiha.
