Ramadhan – a month of fasting or a month of feasting?

Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

In this month, we feast so much. Yet the Prophet ﷺ hardly had any food in his home, months would go by without cooked food in hisﷺ Holy Home, hisﷺ Holy Family ate dates and drank water mostly, and tied stones to their stomachs to alleviate their hunger.

Ramadhan is a month to fight the weakened Ego and to eat little. It’s the easiest month to reduce our eating – weakening the body and strengthening the Spirituality. They are opposite to each other.

If we make it a festival of food, then the womenfolk spend much of their time cooking and the menfolk spend much of their time in bazaars buying exotic food.

Where then is the Ramadhan experience? The experience to taste a closeness to Allah ﷻ, that you have never tasted before.

Not to taste foods that you have never enjoyed before.

One third of Ramadhan is almost over. There is still time to correct the over-eating. Have simple one-dish meals, oh mureeds!

Watch the video link. Very beautiful words to ponder over:

Wassalam.

Our beloved Sheikh Muhammad Abdul Sattar Khan reunited with his true love, Allah Almighty, on 11 November 2023.

May Allah forgive his shortcomings, bestow upon him endless blessings, mercy, and light, and elevate his rank for the sincerity of his efforts and contribution during his lifetime.

May he be placed amongst those closest and dearest to Allah Almighty.

Al-Fatiha for Sheikh Muhammad Abdul Sattar Khan.
