Qurbān Is a Gift from Allah

Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

Sohbah on 15th July 2021 by Mawlana Sheikh Muhammad Adil Ar Rabbaniق

This month of Dhū al-Ḥijjah is a holy month. There is a lot of goodness and worship to be performed.

One of them is the prayer of ‘Īd.

‘Īd prayer is wājib to us. It is wājib to Ḥanafī madhhab. As it is not wājib to other madhhabs, it is Sunnah Mu’akkadah (confirmed) for them.

Also there is the matter of qurbān.

It is sunnah of our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. Among all four madhhabs, only in Ḥanafī madhhab there is wājib. For others, it is Sunnah Mu’akkadah. It is sunnah of our Holy Prophet ﷺ. The worship called wājib is between Farḍ and Sunnah Mu’akkadah.

It is something greater than sunnah and is very virtuous.

Those who follow the Ḥanafī madhhab shouldn’t avoid it. As it is sunnah for other madhhabs, they may do it or not. It is not obligatory but better to perform.

According to Ḥanafī madhhab, whoever has got money equivalent to 100 grams of gold, whoever has got this amount in a year, it is wājib for him to make qurbān that year.

Making qurbān brings blessings and he performs a wājib worship.

Our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says that Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla gives a palace in paradise for each of its hair.

It is too precious.

And it is same for every drop of its blood. Its reward is uncountable. As much as you can count, there is that much thawāb. Apart from this, when a person makes qurbān, normally he can divide it into three parts and keep one third of it to himself, then give one third to friends and one third to poor people. If he is poor himself, he can keep it all. If he is in too much need, he can keep it all.

In old times, they used to dry it and make Sujuk or Pastirma from it, or use it directly as dry meat. They would use it for a year. It can be done so by poor ones. They can keep it in a fridge and consume later. They will earn as many virtues. And their earnings remain with themselves. If they distribute to other poor people, their thawāb increases. They will receive their du‘ā’ too.

Also about qurbāns, shayṭan is interfering in everything now. He wants to prevent everything. He says it is a pity for animals. They are killed and slaughtered. What a pity. Especially non-Muslim people interfere a lot in it. Whereas in the first place, those animals want to be slaughtered in such holy days for the pleasure of Allāh (ﷻ).

Certainly, they don’t understand it. People without faith, kāfirs don’t understand this. Hypocrites don’t understand at all. Hypocrites say, “Don’t torture them. Don’t kill the animals”.

O kāfir, O hypocrites, O faithless ones, you eat meat every day.

Where does it come from?

Do you crop it from the tree?

The amount of animals slaughtered on ’Īd in all Muslim countries between the Muslims, kāfirs kill double of it in two days or in a week. They eat double of it.

Muslims distribute it to poor ones everywhere, in Africa, India or Pakistan. Some of the poor people who receive it, eat meat once a year. Not even once a year, we’ve heard that in some places people ate meat for the first time at the age of 30 or 40.

People who believe in whatever shayṭān says absolutely rebel against Allāh ﷻ.

People have started a war against Allāh ﷻ.

Never ever does anyone or anything under the order of Allāh get harmed. It is a benefit.

Therefore, whoever affords the qurbān, as we said, it is wājib for Ḥanafī madhhab. For the rest, it is Sunnah Mu’akkadah.

Our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam used to always slaughter two big rams with his own holy hands. The name of this ’Īd is ‘Īd al-‘Aḍḥā, Feast of Sacrifice. Qurban in Turkish and ‘Aḍḥā in Arabic. ’Aḍḥā means sacrifice.

From the beginning till the end, with barakah of this day, all of these animals wait to become sacrificed in such places. May a knife not touch their throats by kāfirs without BismiLlāh. These holy animals wish so.

Therefore, it is a blessing. These animals never decrease. They lamb once a year and deliver one lamb, and they feed millions of people.

It is a sign of barakah, barakah of Ḥalīl ʾIbrāhīm ‘alayhi s-salām. He is their shepherd. Their blessings came with him.

Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq.

Al-Fatiha.
