Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatuLlahi wa barakatuhu

Alhamdulillah, the month of Safar is nearly ending. In a few days, either 3 or 4, the final day will fall on a Wednesday. That Wednesday is also the last Wednesday of Safar.

Mawlana Shaykh Nazimق used to say that the last Wednesday of Safar is the heaviest day of the month, and even of the entire year. If you do not have anything important to do outside, stay inside your home. Give sadaqah for the day, and also recite the wird of Safar.

Most of you already know it. It consists of reciting the Shahadah three times, saying Astaghfirullah 300 times, and giving one sadaqah. On this final Wednesday, you give two sadaqah, insh’Allah.

Between Zuhr and Asr, pray four rakʿats with the intention of protection and peace on this heavy day. This prayer is also for the ending of the month and for safety throughout it. Mawlana Shaykh used to pray these four rakʿats in jamaʿah.

In each rakʿah, after al-Fatiḥah, recite the following:

  • First rakʿah: Surah al-Fīl (105)
  • Second rakʿah: Surah al-Kāfirūn (109)
  • Third rakʿah: Surah an-Naṣr (110)
  • Fourth rakʿah: Surah al-Ikhlāṣ (112)

After giving salām, recite 70 times:

Hasbunallāh wa niʿma al-wakīl

Then make duʿā, thanking Allah ﷻ for bringing the month to an end, and asking for protection on this day.

Insh’Allah, the following Thursday will mark the beginning of Rabiʿ al-Awwal, the month of Mawlid, the birth of our Prophet ﷺ. This is the third month of the Hijri calendar.

On the 12th of this month, we celebrate the blessed birth of the Prophet ﷺ.

It is a great blessing to celebrate this night just as we celebrate Eid. Allah ﷻ has honoured us by granting us the Prophet ﷺ. We are honoured to be his ﷺ Ummah.

We are truly blessed that Allah ﷻ made us from the nation of Sayyidunā Muhammad ﷺ. He ﷻ gave us this honour and made the rules for us lighter than for previous nations. Their religious laws were more strict. The Shariʿah of the Prophet ﷺ is full of mercy and ease.

In earlier nations, when people disobeyed, Allah ﷻ sent angels with punishments. People were turned into monkeys or pigs, Astaghfirullāh, or entire cities were overturned. But for the Ummah of the Prophet ﷺ, Allah ﷻ promised not to punish them openly in this way.

If a person sins, the door of forgiveness is open. The door of the Prophet’s ﷺ intercession is open in this world and in the Hereafter.

To be a good Ummah, we must follow his ﷺ path. We must pray, keep the commands of the religion, hold firm to the Sunnah, and most importantly, love the Prophet ﷺ.

Loving the Prophet ﷺ is very important. His love opens every door.

In this month of Mawlid, we can celebrate daily. The whole month is a month of Mawlid. We can give gifts, read Mawlid, make people happy, and express our love for the Prophet ﷺ.

Do not listen to those who say it is shirk to read Mawlid. That is false. They say this is shirk, but then they make all sorts of worldly celebrations. This is the trick of shayṭān. He teaches people not to honour the Prophet ﷺ, not to celebrate his birth ﷺ.

Shayṭān whispers and says, “He ﷺ was only a messenger. He ﷺ gave his message and now it is finished.” Astaghfirullāh, this is not true. Allah ﷻ said:

“Lawlaka lawlaka mā khalaqtu al-aflāk”

“If not for you, O Muhammad ﷺ, I would not have created anything.”

We are honoured to be part of the nation of Sayyidunā Muhammad ﷺ. Insh’Allah, we remain firm on his ﷺ way. We try to love him ﷺ as much as he loves us. But we can never reach his love for us.

From the moment he ﷺ was born until his final breath, he ﷺ kept saying, Ummati, Ummati, my nation, my nation.

He ﷺ never stopped loving us. He ﷺ never stopped asking Allah ﷻ to forgive us and to grant him intercession for his Ummah.

During the Miʿrāj, when he ﷺ ascended to the heavens, Allah ﷻ said to him, “You are asking Me for a handful of soil. I will give it to you. You are more beloved to Me than all My creation.”

May Allah ﷻ make us good followers of the Prophet ﷺ. May we have even one drop of his ﷺ love in our hearts that makes us to be safe here and hereafter and to be happy here and hereafter insh’Allah.

Wa min Allahi at-taufiq.

Al-Fatiha.
