How to Extinguish Great Fires

Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

مَا أَصَابَ مِن مُّصِيبَةٍ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ

(Qur’ān 64:11)

“Mā ‘Asāba Min Musībatin ‘Illā Bi’idhni Allāhi”

“No disaster strikes except by permission of Allah.” Sadaqa Llāhu l-‘Aẓīm.

When a disaster happens, it happens with the permission of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. Therefore, we must beg Allāh ﷻ. We must beg Allāh ﷻ if something happened or even if nothing happened.

Now, by Allāh’s ﷻ wisdom, there has been fires everywhere these last few years. Fires have been breaking out everywhere. They can’t control it. That’s because it’s by the command of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. Everything is by His ﷻ command, and by His ﷻ grace.

Our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam showed the way on how to extinguish the fire. When there is a fire, make Takbir. Takbir extinguishes fire. What is Takbir? It shows Allāh’s ﷻ Greatness. It shows the help of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. Takbir extinguishes the fire of kufr. Therefore, the fire of dunyā is very little compared to it.

So, Takbir is not something to belittle. People can say all they want and mock, but this is a fact. By the power and grace of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla, this disaster goes away. People must definitely believe in this.

Shukr to Allāh ﷻ, we’ve witnessed this many times. It happened in Cyprus, around Lefke with Mawlānā Shaykh Nāẓim there. Of course, in Cyprus they don’t know much about religion or īmān. But they still called Mawlānā Shaykh Nāẓim. It was the last call. Shukr to Allāh ﷻ, we went together.

It was close to evening. If it lasted all night, there was no way it could be extinguished. We went up to that hill with Mawlānā Shaykh Nāẓim and started making Takbir from there. Shukr to Allāh ﷻ, that fire ended before the adhan of ‘Isha. When he recited Takbir, it slowly slowly ended by doing so, shukr to Allāh ﷻ.

Therefore, they must say Takbir in places where there is fire. Takbir is important. It shows the greatness of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. Takbir means saying Allāhu Akbar. Allāhu Akbar means Allāh is the Greatest. No one is like Him ﷻ. There are many foolish people who say, “This one is great. That one is great.” No one is great.

No one has even a single atom [of greatness] in front of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. Those who claim so in from of Him ﷻ have always been in loss. Look at history from the time of ‘Adam ‘alayhi s-salām until now. No one who claims to be great has ever achieved anything. If you are great, then where are you?

Therefore, by repenting to Allāh ﷻ, by seeking forgiveness and by reciting Takbir, these calamities will also pass away, with Allāh’s ﷻ permission. May Allāh ﷻ have grace and mercy upon us, in shā’a Llāh. Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq. Al-Fatiha.

There are recited Qur’an Khatms, Ayāt, Surahs, Yasin, Tasbihāt, Tahlilāt, Salawat, Dalā’il al-Khayrāt. They have entrusted all these beautiful and things beloved to Allāh ﷻ, the word of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla, salawāt of our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. We gift them firstly to our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam, his ﷺ Ahlu l-Bayt and ṣaḥābah, souls of all Anbiya, Awliya, Asfiya.

To the souls of our Mashayikh. To the souls of all our passed ones. To the souls of all Muslims and Mu’mins. May they receive them, in shā’a Llāh. May whatever goals those who recited have be reached. For the strength of our īmān. For happiness here and hereafter. Li-Llahi Ta’āla.

Al-Fatiha.
