Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

Our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam said, “Always do good. When you commit a mistake, repent and do good,” whether it’s helping others, materially, spiritually, or repenting and seeking forgiveness. Allāh ﷻ will erase that sin. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla has infinite mercy. He ﷻ accepts the repentance of those who repent.
Therefore, some people say, “We did this, we did that, we committed a sin. How can we erase it?” The entire Qur’ān ‘Aẓīmu sh-Sha’n and the ḥadīths say that. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla and our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam say, “If you commit a sin, follow it with a good deed, and Allāh ﷻ will forgive it, erase it.”
He ﷺ says “يمحوها”, He ﷻ erases it, because the angels are recording it. They record the good deeds and the bad deeds you do. When you repent, they don’t immediately record the sin. They record the good deeds right away, but they wait for the sins so you can repent.
Eventually, when you don’t repent, they say, “Record this.” They write it down. If the person repents later, Allāh ﷻ forgives that sin too. But it’s not recorded at the same time. Our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says, He ﷻ erases it. When it is erased, there won’t be any sin, shukr to Allāh ﷻ.
Sin is the worst thing for humankind. To go to ākhirah with sin is a great burden, a great misfortune. As Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla has given you so many opportunities, as He ﷻ has given you the chance to forgive your sins and be cleansed, but if you insist, “No, I’ll do it this way,” then you will suffer the punishment.
May Allāh ﷻ protect us. May He ﷻ accept our repentance. May Allāh ﷻ forgive us for the things we have done, in shā’a Llāh. Wa min Allāh ﷻ at-Tawfiq.
Al-Fatiha.
