Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

Every word our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam said is beautiful. Every time, we hear some of them or read some of them. Some of them even come to our minds. One of those beautiful words is, Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm:
“إِنَّمَا يَعْمُرُ مَسَاجِدَ اللَّهِ مَنْ آمَنَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ”
(Qur’ān 09:18)
“Innamā Ya`muru Masājida Allāhi Man ‘Āmana Billāhi Wa Al-Yawmi Al-‘Ākhiri”
“The mosques of Allah are only to be maintained by those who believe in Allah and the Last Day.” Ṣadaqa Llāhu l-‘Aẓīm.
The people who build the houses of Allāh ﷻ, the mosques, are people who believe in Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla, our Prophet ﷺ and the ākhirah. Those who are granted that are very lucky people. They are lucky because that goodness continues. It’s ongoing while you’re alive, and it stays the same until the Day of Judgment.
There are many people who built mosques and such. Then, a hundred years, fifty years, sometimes two hundred years after they passed away, something happened and they removed it. Something else was built instead. But Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla gives him the same reward just as when it is built.
That’s why, building a mosque or masjid is a great chance for the one who does it. Of course, not everyone can do it. When it is done, that one is a lucky servant of Allāh ﷻ. Our Ottoman ancestors and those who came after them built mosques everywhere. They built many mosques and masjids.
Our island is a blessed island. On the island – as our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam called it: Jazīratu l-Khadra’, the green island. It is a blessed island. Over millions of men have come and gone. The good ones have come, the bad ones have come, and all were gone.
What has not gone is the good deeds. This is what’s left for those who did them. The value of the island, what our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam pointed to, is Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla’s built mosques, dergahs, the houses where there’s the remembrance of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. By their barakah, barakah comes to those who come.
No matter how many people here now say they believe, and even if they say they don’t believe – whether you believe or not, when your time comes, you will be swept away. Someone else will come. Allāh ﷻ puts whomever He ﷻ wants, and takes whomever He ﷻ wants. That chance doesn’t happen to everyone. That’s why, we must appreciate it.
Our people have been deprived of it. They think dunyā is something important. Dunyā is nothing. As we said, millions of people have come and gone from here. What’s remaining is the charity and good deeds. It is not lost in the sight of Allāh ﷻ; it is not wasted.
In shā’a Llāh tomorrow, a blessed old mosque from the Ottoman time will be opened again in Larnaca, on the Hala Sultān side, in shā’a Llāh. Even on the days when it was not open, Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla gave that reward to those who built it. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla has given them the reward of the good deed they have done. May Allāh ﷻ grant us all to do such good things as mosques. May it benefit people, in shā’a Llāh.
May Allah ﷻ make its barakah upon us all. Because the revival of what our ancestors have done is beneficial to us all. When that archaeological [religious] site, that mosque is ruined, the rewards definitely reach its owner, but when prayer, dhikr, tasbihāt and all kinds of worship are performed again, it becomes barakah for that town and that place. It becomes a means for attaining guidance and light.
May Allāh ﷻ multiply it. May Allāh ﷻ make them reopen everything that’s ruined soon. Because of course, there might be some financial obstacles. There might be some controllable obstacles, and there might be some obstacles beyond one’s control.
May Allāh ﷻ remove these obstacles, in shā’a Llāh. Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq.
Al-Fatiha.
