Disapprove Badness in Your Heart

“اللَّهُمَّ لَا تُؤَاخِذْنَا بِمَا فَعَلَ السُّفَهَاءُ مِنَّا”

(Qur’ān 7:155)

“Allahumma la tu’akhithna bima faa’la s-sufaha’au minna”, “Our Lord, punish us not for what the foolish ones among us have done.”

It is a beautiful saying. It says “We don’t accept the actions of bad ones. Don’t punish us like them, we beg Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla.”

During the time of Musa ‘alayhi s-salam, if one person committed a sin, punishment came to all of them from the presence of Allah ﷻ. Shukr to Allah ﷻ, there is no such thing now for the honor of our Holy Prophet ﷺ. Nevertheless, darkness comes down because of the badness done. What should we do? We should not accept badness.

Our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says if you can change something with your hands, you must change it. If you can’t do that, you must give advice and tell them, “This is not good. Don’t do that.” If you can’t do that as well, you must say in your heart “It is badness, I don’t accept it. I don’t want it” and disapprove it. Certainly, it is impossible now to change with hands. If you talk with them, they are not in a state to accept it. Because they think the badness they do is good. They think the badness they do against Allah ‘Azza wa-Jalla and against humanity is good. Therefore, you can’t talk to them.

The best is to disapprove in your heart. As we said, you must not accept what you see. Because they’ve done such a thing that it appears normal to people. People are getting used to it step by step, whereas everyone must know that the things we see are bad. They must see goodness as good to attain the pleasure of Allah ﷻ. It is the weakest thing; Muslims must say it is bad, it is Haram, it is not right. They must know this. They must know Haram and Halal and differentiate them. They must not accept Haram.

May Allah ﷻ protect us. May Allah ﷻ improve us. People are doing all kinds of badness. And then they boast with it. May Allah ﷻ give them mind and understanding. May Allah ﷻ improve them. May Allah ﷻ protect us. May He ﷻ protect our Iman insha’Allah. May He ﷻ not put us in such conditions insha’Allah. Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq.

Al-Fatiha.
