Death Is Easy for Believers

Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. “Kullu nafsin dhā’iqatu l-mawt, thumma ilaynā turja‘ūn” (29:57). Ṣadaqa Llāhu l-‘aẓīm. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla says each person, all of mankind, will certainly go to the next life (ākhirah). No one will remain here. Therefore, to people with īmān, death is not a scary thing. Mawlānā Shaykh Nāẓim used to say that the awliyā’ say the death of people, the death of believers, is as easy as passing from one door to another. Dying, for them, is not scary.

But people without īmān, may Allāh جل جلاله protect us, their death and the release of their soul
are very bad. It is nothing but torture. But it is not a scary thing for believers. It is the most frightening thing for people. Some people say they have the fear of death. The fear of death. Why are you afraid? [Your life] is as long as Allāh جل جلاله has appointed for you. Being
scared will not benefit you. It is better if you’re not scared. If you are scared, it is not that
bad for you. It makes you do good deeds, in order not to be scared.

Repent for the bad things you’ve done. Ask forgiveness for your sins. Make things right with people, if you have harmed them. Put an end to their harm. Whatever you did to them, do as much as you can to make things right and for them to forgive you. Because the right of a servant is more difficult. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla forgives everything. He جل جلاله is forgiving. But He جل جلاله wants the right of a servant to be forgiven by that servant himself.

Therefore, giving other people their rights is harder for those who are gone. There is nowhere to run, there. You can be saved in this world by talking, with money or making things right. But there, you have to give up your pious deeds for them to forgive you. Therefore, this world is not eternal. Everyone will go from here. However long Allāh جل جلاله has
appointed for this life, it will be that much.

Therefore, believers must know this and be content with it. As we said, we should not be afraid. There is nothing to be scared of. As long as we are on the way of Allāh جل جلاله, no need to
be scared. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla will certainly treat us with His جل جلاله kind favours. Those who are on the way of our Holy Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم will certainly be with him صلى الله عليه وسلم. The love and intercession of our Holy Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم will be upon us. This is true.

They are frightening people with the fear of death now. “It will happen so and so.” Panic attacks and the fear of death have occurred. This is because of the ignorance of these people. Who is ignorant? Professors who graduated from universities are very ignorant. Most ignorant ones are from them, and from learned ones. Because the ignorant are not those who don’t know how to read and write, but those who don’t know Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. Those who don’t know what they do and how, where they come and where they go, are ignorant. People on the way of Allāh جل جلاله are not ignorant. May Allāh جل جلاله protect us. May Allāh جل جلاله make our ending good, in shā’a Llāh.
