BismiLlahi r-Rahmani r-Raḥīm

Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says,
إِنَّمَا الْعِلْمُ بِالتَّعَلُّمِ، وَإِنَّمَا الْحِلْمُ بِالتَّحَلُّمِ
“Knowledge is only by learning, and patience is only by exerting oneself to be patient.” Sadaqa RasuLlah fi-ma qāl aw kama qāl.
To get knowledge you must study. You must teach yourself. Of course, somebody must teach you. Ilim is obligatory for each Muslim from birth to death. Every day, he must learn a little bit; to ask for knowledge. This is obligatory, fard for every Muslim and Muslimah. Of course, every day a little bit.
Our intention is to be like this, in shā’a Llāh. And of course, there are many things you think you know, but after that, you discover, every day you learn new things. Don’t say, “I know everything. There’s no need for me to learn or to ask.” Knowledge is endless.
For this, in shā’a Llāh, here also everybody must learn even the daily wird (duties/practices) or to be Imām, to be Mu’azzin. You must learn this very well. So, you must also first train. Starting now, every day from our Mashāyikh here, from morning to ‘Isha a new one must recite; not only the Mu’azzin. Every day, a new one. You must teach them to learn how to make Tasbihāt, to be Mu’azzin. From Fajr to ‘Isha, in shā’a Llāh, every day a different person.
And when we leave, of course there aren’t so many people. There’s the new Mu’azzin and this Mu’azzin. You must also train and learn; not only one. The honor of the place is in having many Mu’azzin. AlhamduliLlah, we must imitate Ka’aba; there are many Mu’azzins. And in Madinah Munawwarah also there are many Mu’azzins. And in Salātin’s (Sultans’) mosques, there are many Mu’azzins; different, different ones.
So it is important not just to listen, “Okay he is reciting. There’s no need for us to do.” No, you must learn, you must practice, in shā’a Llāh. To be a Mu’azzin is a big honor. Mu’azzins are praised ones in the Divine Presence of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. As much as their voices are reaching, Allāh ﷻ forgives them.
And on the Day of Qiyāmah, it is said they will have the longest necks among other people. In shā’a Llāh, you must learn this everywhere and practice this, in shā’a Llāh.
The second part: “وَإِنَّمَا الْحِلْمُ بِالتَّحَلُّمِ”, “Patience is only by exerting oneself to be patient.” To not be angry. “I am angry! What will you do?” I cannot put you in a jar of paint and take you out then you will be not angry.
Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says, slowly, slowly. Every time you get angry, you must remember, “I must take it easy. I’m very angry, I must become a little bit less angry.” After that, the second time also. You should every time remember. In the end, maybe in one month, one year, two years, maybe ten years, after that they will be, in shā’a Llāh, not angry anymore.
May Allāh ﷻ keep us away from anger. And even if you’re angry you must quickly calm down. Mawlānā Shaykh used to be angry like a straw on fire: it ignites quickly and goes out quickly. So you must be like this. Because everybody has anger. After that, they must have no more anger, because anger puts inside yourself fire. So there’s no need to do this. Quickly you must get rid of this anger, in shā’a Llāh.
So may Allāh ﷻ help us all to do this, in shā’a Llāh. Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq.
Al-Fatiha.
