Alcohol and Gambling Are from Shayṭān

Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

إِنَّمَا الْخَمْرُ وَالْمَيْسِرُ وَالْأَنصَابُ وَالْأَزْلَامُ رِجْسٌ مِّنْ عَمَلِ الشَّيْطَانِ فَاجْتَنِبُوهُ

(Qur’ān 05:90)

“Innamā Al-Khamru Wa Al-Maysiru Wa Al-’Anşābu Wa Al-’Azlāmu Rijsun Min `Amali Ash-Shayţāni Fājtanibūhu”

“Intoxicants (all kinds of alcoholic drinks), gambling, Al­Ansāb, and Al­Azlām (arrows for seeking luck or decision) are an abomination of satan’s handiwork. So avoid (strictly all) that (abomination) in order that you may be successful.” Ṣadaqa Llāhu l-‘Aẓīm.

Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla is saying in Qur’ān ‘Aẓīmu sh-Sh’an drinking alcohol and gambling, and worshipping idols are from the work of shayṭān. They are the invention of shayṭān. Don’t do the deeds of shayṭān and stay away from his works, says Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. They are only a harm to people.

Not only for Muslims, but for everyone, for all people; this harm is common. But the matter here is that Muslim people should stay away from what’s ḥarām. If they’re not Muslim, there is a rule: “لَيْسَ بَعْدَ الْكُفْرِ ذَنْب”, “Laysa baa’da l-kufri dhanb”, “There is no sin after disbelief.” There is no greater sin than kufr.

Whatever they do, it is not greater than kufr. Their greatest sin is to be in kufr, to be in shirk. That’s the greatest sin. Alcohol and gambling are not counted in front of that. When they become Muslim, everything is erased for them. If not, they are already in kufr. They will be forever in hell. May Allāh ﷻ protect us.

But for us, Muslims must stay away from them. Because these are the things that ruin them, their families and the community. They say alcohol is the mother of sins. And gambling is an illness. When one is afflicted with it, it is nearly impossible to be saved from it. Only few people quit gambling.

How do they quit? Only when they don’t have money left. They finish everything they have leaving nothing. And then they can’t gamble anymore. Even then, if they find, they gamble again. If they can’t find money, they leave it. They stay where they are and can’t do anything.

But in this time we are living in, the ruling of shayṭān is prevalent. It is forbidden for you to do goodness. They prohibit you: “Beware of doing goodness. Commit a sin. Do sins. Don’t worship or do good. Don’t pray, don’t fast.” Everything crooked and wrong is not sin according to them. Otherwise, you are free to do everything. And gambling is a part of that.

Wherever you are sitting – We got a message yesterday on our phone, “Dear something or someone, we’ve got the best casino. You can gamble from wherever you are. You can gamble from home.” I said may Allāh ﷻ give you what you deserve. May Allāh ﷻ send upon you whatever you deserve. Because you are harmful, you bring harm. That harm will reach you. When you harm others, you are harmed too.

You want to bring casino into homes, to people, to children, to women and girls, and tell them “Gamble as much as you want.” How about money? “Don’t worry about money. We know how to take the money. Just accept our best casino. And gamble from wherever you like, without going out. Look what a great service we offer. We bring the service of shayṭān to your feet. We bring the service of hell and service of evil. We are destroying you. We bring Allāh’s ﷻ curse on you.” What else is it? It’s nothing but this. This is what they call service.

We are fed up with it. Yā Allāh ﷻ, this world has reached its last resort. People are not done ruining. They want to hit the bottom even more. They want to smash people. They want to prevent them from breathing. They want to make them lose their humanity, to make them slaves for them. This is what they want. May Allāh ﷻ protect people and help them.

Don’t follow these things. And there is nowhere to complain. If you want to help and do goodness, thousand complaints will come against you. The police will come to your door: “You did so and so. They took your photo.” People are bringing gambling into my house, and you are keeping quiet.

We are in the end of times. May Allāh ﷻ help us and save us. May He ﷻ send the Ṣāhib already. May Mahdī ‘alayhi s-salām come. Otherwise, it won’t work. May Allāh ﷻ improve people. Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq.
