By the name of Allah, All-Mighty, All-Merciful, Most Beneficent and Most Munificent.
The Prophet ﷺ said that everyone’s book is closed after death except for three people. The first is the one who guides people to the right way through his writings. As long as people benefit from them, mercy continues to reach him and his book remains open.
The second is the one who establishes an endowment. As long as it remains in existence, every moment brings new reward and his book is still being written.
The third is the one who leaves behind righteous children who pray for him. As long as they pray, his book is not closed.
Allah ﷻ knows His creation perfectly and opens a way to faith even for their ancestors, sometimes in the very last moments. We must always thank Allah ﷻ for His mercy. If He gives permission for my intercession, I shall ask for all your ancestors.
My Grandshaykh, Mawlana Shaykh Abdullahق, was speaking about Abu Bakr as-Siddiqر, the grand companion from all the Sahabah. The Prophet ﷺ praised him, saying that if his faith were placed on one side of a scale and the faith of the whole Ummah on the other, the faith of Abu Bakrر would outweigh them all.
On the Day of Promises, when every soul was asked by Allah ﷻ, “Am I not your Lord?” and we replied, “Yes, You are our Lord,” it was by the spiritual power of Abu Bakrر that all were able to say yes.
Grandshaykhق said that every person carries a share from the faith of Abu Bakrر. Even the lowest among people must have a portion from him. Through that portion, so many will be taken to paradise.
This share of faith prevents a bad ending in this life and the next. “La ilaha illa Allah, Muhammadun Rasulullah ﷺ” is written on the heart. It only needs a chance to show itself.
Once I was traveling to Madinah with Grandshaykhق. Across all the mountains, valleys, and endless sand, there was not a single green leaf in sight. When we arrived in Madinah it rained for three days, then stopped.
Two months later, when returning to Damascus, not even one foot of those mountains and valleys was without green grass and flowers of many colors.
I said, “O my Lord, where were these seeds hidden?” Allah ﷻ was keeping those seeds, and when the rain of mercy fell on them, they appeared instantly.
In the same way, so many people carry seeds of faith hidden within their hearts, waiting only for the rain of mercy. That mercy may come even at the end of life. A person may be on his deathbed and begin to cry, and that single tear attracts mercy. Even one teardrop, no larger than a full stop, is enough.
Allah ﷻ says, “My servant is crying.” In that moment the seed of faith opens and fills the heart, covering it with the light of real faith. He had been like a desert, but when death approached he began to cry, and that crying was a sign of mercy coming to him.
Only when the soul rises to the throat is the door of repentance closed. Can you find anyone who does not cry before that moment? Allah ﷻ never abandons His servants. His mercy is endless, and in His oceans of mercy we are nothing.
Whenever faith becomes stronger, mercy grows with it. If you see someone devoid of mercy, know that he lacks faith. Our Prophet ﷺ was sent as a mercy for all creation. Anyone who takes pleasure in sending people to hell is not with our Prophet ﷺ.
When Moses (AS) was angry with Korah and condemned him for his wrongdoing, he prayed two raka’ats to decide on the punishment. Allah ﷻ told him, “Do as you like.”
Moses (AS) ordered the earth to swallow him.
As it began, Korah cried, “O Moses, for the sake of our blood relationship, forgive me.”
It swallowed him further.
He asked three more times for forgiveness before he was taken completely.
Then Allah ﷻ addressed Moses, “O Moses, Korah asked many times for forgiveness and you did not forgive him. By My Might and Majesty, if he had called upon Me once, saying, ‘O my Lord, forgive me,’ I would have forgiven him. O Moses, you did not create him, so you do not know mercy. I am the Creator and I know mercy for My creation.”
Allah ﷻ wishes to bring His servants into His oceans of mercy by every means. Our hope in His Almighty Mercy must be absolute. Mercy is His attribute, and He loves to see His servants adorned with it.
As the Prophet ﷺ said, “O my people, show mercy to all who are on earth, so that the One who is above the Heavens may show mercy to you.”
May Allah Almighty awaken the hidden seeds of faith within our hearts and shower us with mercy that never ends.
Al-Fatiha.

This series was initiated by the SufiHub Team in honour of our beloved Sheikh, the late Sheikh Muhammad Abdul Sattar Khan, who lovingly dedicated himself to transcribing and summarising the daily sohbahs of Mawlana Sheikh Nazimق.
It was through this blessed service that he began his journey on this beautiful Way in 2008, remaining steadfast upon it until his final breath in 2023. Today, his legacy continues at our Zawiyah at A’Posh Bizhub Singapore through his representatives Sidi Shalihin, Ismail, and Syed Muhammad, who humbly carry forward the path he sincerely paved.
We pray that our dear Sheikh Abdul Sattar has been reunited with his beloved Mawlana Sheikh Nazimق and all our Grandshaykhs, and that their light continues to guide us always on the way of Haqq.
The text was originally taken from Liberating the Soul – A Guide for Spiritual Growth by Shaykh Nazim Adil al-Haqqaniق. With love and sincere intention, parts of this sohbah have been gently revised by the SufiHub Team for clarity and contextual relevance.
If you wish to share it on your platforms, kindly post it in full and ensure that proper credit is given to all its sources. For this is adab, the very core of our beautiful religion and way.
