This is the third post following Guide to Mawlid Nabi.

In his book, Shaykh Adnan Kabbaniق reminded us of the significance of the night when the Holy Prophet ﷺ was honoured with his blessed name, and the importance of commemoratating it.

According to Mawlanaق’s calendar, tomorrow, 10th September (after Maghrib), marks this blessed occasion.

We are encouraged to observe it just as we did for his ﷺ Mawlid.

Below is a summary of the recommended devotions and acts of worship.

Tonight: Eve of Holy Naming of the Prophet ﷺ

As we have passed the 15th of Rabi’ al-Awwal, we begin reciting the Farewell Poem daily until the end of the month.

Recite Mawlid in congregation

There are many versions of the Mawlid, all of which are accepted, insyaAllah.

For those accustomed to a particular version, you may continue with it.

Based on his past sohbah, Mawlanaق mentioned that Mawlid Sharif written by Suleyman Celebi is the best.

Later in Hajjah Rukiye’s sohbah, she mentioned that in Damascus, in the mosque of Shaykh Muhiyuddin Ibn al-‘Arabiق, there was a man who used to sit in front of the maqam.

When asked to read Mawlid, he would recite a one-page Mawlid standing there for five minutes, ending with “Sallu ‘alayhi wa sallimu taslīmā.”

She followed it by saying,

So even if you have just one page of Mawlid, read it and offer it as a gift to the Prophet ﷺ in your gathering.

Mawlana Shaykh Nazimق used to say, “Read Mawlid, read Mawlid.” Alhamdulillah, we have made it a regular habit and read it three times in our dergah. We read it in Turkish.

If you cannot read the Mawlid, then read Qasīdat al-Burdah.

So on this day, even if you can only manage a single page, make sure to recite the Mawlid.

In the Google Drive, we have included some versions:

The Mawlid of Grandshaykh begins with Qasida Hamziyya, a poem written by Imam Busiri, praising our Holy Prophet ﷺ.

This is followed by Mawlid Sharif, commemorating the birth of our Prophet ﷺ.

Recommended Conclusion after reciting Mawlid:

  • Recite Durood Sharif — 100 times

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِهِ وَصَحْبِهِ وَسَلِّمْ

Allahumma salli ‘ala Sayyidina Muhammad wa ‘ala alihi wa sahbihi wa sallim

“O Allah ﷻ, send blessings upon our master Muhammad ﷺ and upon his family and companions, and grant them peace.”

It is recommended to recite this while standing to seek the blessings of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ.

  • Read Ihda (dedication)

We then end the Mawlid by presenting the above recitations to the Prophets, Messengers and our Shaykhs in the Naqshbandi Way.

Transliteration:

lla sharafi’ ‘n-nabi, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam wa alihi wa asahabihi l-kiram, wa ila arwahi jamee’i al-anbiya’i wa l-mursaline wa khudama’i sharai’ihim, wa ila arwahi al-‘aimmati al-arba’a, wa ila arwahi mashayykhina fi t-tariqati n-naqshbandiyyati l-aliyyah, khassatan imamu t-tariqah wa ghawthu l-khaliqah Khwaja Bahauddin Muhammad al-Uwaisiyyi l-Bukhari, Sayyidina Abdul Khaliq al-Ghujduwani, Mawlana Shaykh Sharafuddin al Daghestani, Mawlana Shaykh Abdullah al Faiz al Daghestani, Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim Adil al Haqqani, wa sairi sadatina wa s-siddiqiyun.

Translation:

“For the honor of the Prophet, may Allah ﷻ send blessings upon him his family, and his noble companions. And for the souls of all the Prophets and Messengers, their righteous servants, and the souls of the four Imams. And for the souls of our masters in the Naqshbandi-‘Aliyyah Tariqah, especially the Imam of the Tariqah and the Ghawth of creation, Khwaja Bahauddin Muhammad Al-Uwaisiyyi Al-Bukhari, Sayyidina Abdul Khaliq Al-Ghujduwani, Mawlana Shaykh Sharafuddin Al-Daghestani, Mawlana Shaykh Abdullah Al-Faiz Al-Daghestani, Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim Adil Al-Haqqani, and all our noble saints and the truthful ones.”

⑧ Perform Solatul Tasbih and Solatul Shukr

Engage in Night Vigil

⑩ Qurban and Feeding the Poor (if you have the means to)

Reading Seerah & Sending Salawat upon our Holy Prophet

As Hajjah Rukiye reminded us, the Prophet ﷺ is pleased with us when we recite Salawat Sharif upon him ﷺ and gather in his ﷺ honor.

May Allah ﷻ bless us with the honour of remembering His Beloved ﷺ, filling our hearts with love for him ﷺ and accepting all our prayers, recitations, and acts of devotion.

May He ﷻ grant us the Prophet’s ﷺ intercession, guide us always on the straight path, protect us in this world and the Hereafter, and surround us with his ﷺ mercy, blessings, and light.
