You’re Not Lower than Unbelievers

Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

إِنَّ أَكْرَمَكُمْ عِندَ اللَّهِ أَتْقَاكُمْ

(Qur’ān 49:13)

“Inna ‘Akramakum Inda Allāhi ‘Atqākum”

“Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you.” Sadaqa Llāhu l-‘Aẓīm.

Being the closest to Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla in His ﷻ sight, being as He ﷻ wants must be the greatest desire for mankind. If Allāh ﷻ likes you, if He ﷻ loves you, that’s what’s important.

Mankind today, even though Allāh ﷻ created everyone the same, likes this and doesn’t like that. He considers himself higher than others, and lower than some. This is shayṭān’s work. Whereas, Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla created everyone the same.

Who is the most valuable? The one close to Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla, who feels shame before Allāh ﷻ, who fears Allāh ﷻ, who strives not to do evil, not to make mistakes.

People of today, especially those here, since the last couple of years, want to be like Europe. “What does Europe say? How does Europe see us? Let’s dress like them. Let’s act like them so that they like us.”

What will happen if they like you or don’t like you? They make you struggle like a monkey. They dress you as they wish, tire you, give you what they want and not give you what they don’t want.

After all that, even if you caught a bird with your mouth, they will still not like you. But you still try to be like them. There is no benefit in imitating them. It has no value at all in the sight of Allāh ﷻ. The value is to be on the way of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla, to fear Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla.

What we mean by fearing Him ﷻ is being afraid of making faults. Being afraid saying, “We don’t want to stand before Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla with faults.” The purpose is not being afraid. Allāh ﷻ does not scare.

Allāh ﷻ is Rahim, He ﷻ is Ar-Rahmān, the Most Merciful. Have as many sins as you want, if you ask forgiveness, Allāh ﷻ will forgive you. Therefore, it’s nothing to cause fear.

Fearing Allāh ﷻ means realizing that you will be standing in front of Him ﷻ, that He ﷻ sees you. He ﷻ knows all your mistakes. You will be held accountable for them.

But if you fear Allāh ﷻ and ask for forgiveness, Allāh ﷻ forgives you. He ﷻ will conceal you. He ﷻ will also forgive your sins. He ﷻ will not disgrace you before anyone. That’s what’s important.

“No. Europe said that. Europe said that of us. America wanted that.” Many people speak so with exaggeration, whereas they don’t even know where you are. What will they know about you then? It is the shayṭān himself who makes you do these things, the soldiers of shayṭān.

Allāh ﷻ created you honored, great and noble. Neither you are better than the others nor they are better than you. To think otherwise is to go against Allāh ﷻ. Seeing yourself as lower than someone else, than the unbeliever is a form of rebellion against Allāh ﷻ. May Allāh ﷻ protect us. Allāh ﷻ created everyone the same.

That’s why, those ideas, “I will go there” – now everyone keeps saying and striving, “I will go to Europe. I will go to America.” What will happen if you go there? And what will happen if you don’t go? You will receive your rizq wherever Allāh ﷻ has written it.

May Allāh ﷻ give people, Muslims and everyone mind and understanding. May they think carefully. May Allāh ﷻ make us all among His ﷻ beloved servants, in shā’a Llāh.

Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq.

Al-Fatiha.
