Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

(Qur’ān 49:13)
“Yā ‘Ayyuhā n-Nāsu ‘Innā Khalaqnākum Min Dhakarin Wa ‘Untha Wa Ja’alnākum Shu’ūbāan Wa Qabā’ila Lita’ārafū Inna ‘Akramakum Inda Allāhi ‘Atqākum”
“O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you.” Ṣadaqa Llāhu l-‘Aẓīm.
Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla created us. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla created people as various tribes and nations. He ﷻ created them in different colors. He ﷻ made them reside in dunyā.
Everything happens by the command and will of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. But what people need to understand here is that they must use their minds. They must use their minds and understand why they were created. They must know what is good for them.
The best among all mankind is the most pious of all people, who fears Allāh ﷻ, and fulfills the commands of Allāh ﷻ. This is the most virtuous and the best person; no one else.
There is no room for pride in saying, “I am white, I am yellow, I am red, I am black.” There is no point in boasting. There is no benefit. Because the benefit is not in whatever color you are, what nation you are from and so. If you close your eyes, after a month you too will become dust. The black, white, red and yellow will all become the same.
There will be no benefit in that. These are temporary things. Whoever is pious, fulfills the commands of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla, and attains Allāh’s ﷻ pleasure: this is the greatest benefit for a person. That’s the gain. Nothing else has value.
Therefore, Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla has given humans mind. He ﷻ has also given them free will, so that they can use their minds. Some scholars wonder whether it’s partial or complete will. What matters is that Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla has given them mind. If they use that mind it will be good. Those who don’t use their minds won’t have any benefit.
They say, “I used my mind I’ve become a doctor. I used my mind I became a scientist. I used my mind I became a bank manager,” he has become this and that. These are things that will not benefit you. If you use it for the pleasure of Allāh ﷻ, it will be good. But if you use it for your ego, you won’t have any benefit.
The human mind must submit to Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla and obey His ﷻ commands; nothing else. The mind demonstrates that. Who doesn’t use it so doesn’t have a complete mind. It demonstrates what is best. If it doesn’t show that, this mind is not a mind. One mustn’t consider it a mind.
If a person is on the way of Allāh ﷻ, he must make shukr to Allāh ﷻ. Whether they have a mind or not is irrelevant; it actually means they have a mind. Whoever fulfills the orders of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla, no matter how many people dislike them, call them majzub or foolish: he is on the way, his mind is on the way.
But the others, the entire world – we actually see them. The entire world is at their command, but do they have minds? You say. They have no such thing as mind. If they don’t fear Allāh ﷻ, they have no benefit. And their ends are bad.
May Allāh ﷻ protect us. May Allāh ﷻ not deprive us all of mind. Mind is a blessing, an adornment, an ornament. A person’s adornment. If they don’t use that adornment correctly, it means they are not successful in using it. May Allāh ﷻ protect us.
Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq.
