Who Gives Without Return?

إِنَّهُمْ فِتْيَةٌ آمَنُوا بِرَبِّهِمْ وَزِدْنَاهُمْ هُدًى

(Qur’ān 18:13)

“Innahum Fityatun ‘Āmanū Birabbihim Wa Zidnāhum Hudan

“Indeed, they were youths who believed in their Lord, and We increased them in guidance.” Ṣadaqa Llāhu l-‘aẓīm.

Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla mentions these young people in Qur’ān ‘Aẓīmu sh-Sha’n. He ﷻ tells us their story. They were very wealthy and rich. The most important thing about them was that they were intelligent people. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla created them that way. They had everything and did not need anything. Yet they abandoned what they thought was valuable for the sake of Allāh’s ﷻ way and went after what was truly valuable.

This was not something that just anyone could do, to control their ego and abandon these things. They were the people most loved by the king. They had money, wealth, property, women, everything. They were living in paradise here, in this worldly paradise, but they realized that it was not paradise. Paradise was not in these things. They were trash. If they were not on the way of Allāh ﷻ and worshipped this man, they were worthless. Either he would get angry with them and throw them out, or cut off their heads. And even if they lived, it would not matter.

Allāh ﷻ guided their hearts. When they were guided, they attained the greatest favor. They abandoned everything and continued on the way of Allāh ﷻ. Their remembrance, Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla praised forever in Qur’ān ‘Aẓīmu sh-Sha’n.

Shukr to Allāh ﷻ, there are several places where these blessed ones can be visited, places of remembrance. But the main one is here. This is because our Shaykh, Mawlānā Shaykh Nāẓim, and Hajji Anne had the same manifestation. They pointed out, saying, “It is here”; this is their true place. There is also a place in Damascus, where we lived, but it has nothing to do with it. There is also a place in Jordan, but that is different. The main one is here. This is the place described in Qur’ān ‘Aẓīmu sh-Sha’n, and the place our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam and the Awliyā’ spoke about is here, shukr to Allāh ﷻ.

Visiting this place is a barakah. Of course, you can receive barakah from anywhere. When you recite, you should dedicate it to all the awliyā, Prophets, mashāyikh and the righteous, so that the thawāb of each one will reach you. Our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam speaks of generosity and kindness of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. When you dedicate it gifting it to each one, you receive that much of thawāb.

So, shukr to Allāh ﷻ, our way is the way of Muslims, the way of the believers, the way of those in ṭarīqah, the way of those who believe in this. It is the most beautiful way. But of course, shayṭān does not want them. He has created a group that knows neither intercession, nor awliyā’ nor prophethood. “They are all just like us.” If you know, then just recite it for yourself. This is if Allāh ﷻ accepts it.

Shukr to Allāh ﷻ, every time we recite, every time we dedicate our recitations, we earn billions of rewards. One to ten, says our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. As many billions of Muslims and Mu’mins have passed from this world, that is how many rewards we’ve earned. Shukr to Allāh ﷻ, this is a great favor.

The pursuit of worldly possessions by people today is foolish. Absolute foolishness. “I have no job, no money. I worked, but nothing happened.” What if you did not have a job, or if you went bankrupt, are you alive? “I am alive.” Why are you alive? Because you have sustenance. Without sustenance, you would not live. As long as you have sustenance, you live. Therefore, you must make shukr for that.

The important thing is to be on this way. As long as you are on the way of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla, you lose nothing. Our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says, “I am amazed by the affair of the believer.” “I am surprised,” says our Prophet ﷺ.

Everything is good. Whether it is good, it is good for him. Whether it is bad, it is still good for the believer. So nothing goes in vain. If something bad happens, he receives its reward. If he is poor, Allāh ﷻ gives him the reward for his poverty. If he gets sick, he receives its reward as well. If he experiences any kind of hardship, he certainly receives its reward. If something good happens, he also receives its reward and thawāb because he is thankful to Him ﷻ.

This world today, only drives people to chase after dunyā. “This person did this to me, that person did that.” In fact, people deserve it. They abandon the favors of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla, hoping for favors from others. They think, “This person will do good to me, this person will give me a job, this person will do something for me, this person will increase my salary, this person will take from me, this person will give me,” and they only remember this world, leaving and forgetting Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. They think of people as the Razzaq, the provider of sustenance. It is Allāh ﷻ who provides sustenance.

Therefore, this is a significant thing. They have deceived all people. There are no people left like those of old times. The people of old times were still people who relied upon Allāh ﷻ. People went hungry and thirsty, but they still lived. They lived through Allāh’s ﷻ sustenance. People of today both eat and drink, have everything, yet they are not content. Contentment is the greatest gift given by Allāh ﷻ, a treasure; nothing else. Anything else is unnecessary. May Allāh ﷻ protect us.

Because it is such a thing. Who is the one who gives without expecting anything in return? Is it the minister, is it the prime minister, is it the boss? Is it America or Africa? Who gives without expecting anything in return? Who is there in this world who gives without expecting anything in return? There is no one who gives without anything in return. If you are going to receive something, you must definitely give in return, no matter how much or how little.

The only Giver without anything in return is Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla. Therefore, put your trust in Allāh ﷻ. Be saved from this difficult worldly time. The one who relies on Allāh ﷻ, Allāh ﷻ is with him. Say, “Hasbiya Allāh wa Ni’ma l-Wakīl.” “Hasbiya Allāh” means relying upon Allāh ﷻ, Allāh ﷻ is my Helper. His ﷻ treasures are endless. He ﷻ says, “Ask as much as you want.”

Now, others demand. They will advertise for you. “This guy will do this and that for you. I will give you this much, you will earn this much.” And in return? “Nothing,” they say. Then you look and everything you had in your hands is gone and has been taken away. Someone has sucked out and stolen everything from you in exchange for a tiny little thing. They have not left anything behind.

Therefore, you must be careful. Pay attention to that. Greed has reached its peak these days. Everyone knows these situations. Something comes up, someone says, “I won.” Thousands jump at it. Everyone loses.

We have been on a three-day journey here. The most important thing is that people exploit your naivety. Or even if people are not naive, they deceive even the most intelligent person. Nothing comes for free. Be careful. There is no such thing as, “I will give you one, I will earn a thousand.” Especially these days, there is no such thing.

Protect your possessions and property. Especially in recent years, some people have been deceived into selling the homes they live in and their possessions, saying, “I will sell one house, I will buy 300,” and they are left stranded on the streets. The biggest problem these days, the complaint we always receive, is that the landlord is kicking us out. Why is that? His son is coming, his daughter is coming. Actually, he does not like how much the rent is, he demands more.

Be reasonable. Even if it is a matter of life and death, even if they will give you whatever job you want, even if they lay the treasures of this world before you, do not ever say that you will sell your house and start a business. Let the house you live in be the one that shelters you. Do not give it away otherwise.

Our ancestors said, “Home in this world, faith in the hereafter.” So these two things are very important for Muslims, for believers. Our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam also said in a ḥadīth that three things are important in this world: a house to live in, a righteous wife, and good sustenance. So these are important things.

Pay attention to this advice here. There are many people who say they will not deceive, but they are being deceived. They are being cheated. May Allāh ﷻ protect them from evil. May there be blessings upon the believers. May believers support one another and give advice. Our Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam says that religion is advice.

So if you are going to do business or something, do not sell your house or residence, as we said. Do not believe that you will gain more or that you will work more. May this advice here also be beneficial to everyone, in shā’a Llāh. With the barakah of these blessed ones, may it be beneficial.

Al-Fatiha.
