To Be Beloved of Allāh ﷻ

Our Holy Prophet ﷺ is praised in this āyatu l-karīmah. Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm. sallam says,

‘قُلْ إِن كُنتُمْ تُحِبُّونَ اللَّهَ فَاتَّبِعُونِي يُحْبِبْكُمُ اللَّهُ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ذُنُوبَكُمْ’,

‘Qul in kuntum tuhibbuna Llāha fāttabi‘ūnī yuhbibkumu Llāh wa-yaghfir lakum dhunūbakum’, ‘Say, [O Muhammad], “If you should love Allah , then follow me, [so] Allah will love you and forgive you your sins”.’ (Qur’ān 03:31). “If you love Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla, follow me ﷺ and Allāh ﷻ will love you. He ﷻ will forgive you. He ﷻ will forgive your sins.”

The key is our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam. Following the actions of our Holy Prophet ﷺ brings the pleasure of Allāh ﷻ. You will be loved in the presence of Allāh ﷻ. Allāh ﷻ loves those who walk on his ﷺ way. You should love those whom he ﷺ loves. Whatever he ﷺ loves, you should love it. Whatever he ﷺ did, striving to do like him ﷺ as much as you can brings you the pleasure and love of Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla.

All kinds of things, whatever your ego dislikes, for the sake and pleasure of our Holy Prophet ﷺ, for his ﷺ love, you should love them. Even if you don’t love them – it is ok when there are little things. But sometimes there are beloved people of our Holy Prophet ﷺ. There are people whom he ﷺ loves. Loving them brings goodness to you. Hating them brings harm to you. May Allāh ﷻ protect us. You must love Ahlu l-Bayt. You must love the Saḥābah. You must love Khulafā’i r-Rāshidin and the four Khalīfahs. You must love Muslims. You must help them so that Allāh ﷻ helps you. Otherwise, “I don’t love this one”. Who are you not to love? What is that you cannot share with them? Do you know what the matter is? You don’t know. People forget the events that happened yesterday. To dare hate the ṣaḥābah means hating our Holy Prophet ﷺ. People who do this bring upon themselves the wrath of Allāh ﷻ.

Therefore, goodness brings goodness. And evil brings evil; it won’t bring anything else. Always think positively “Husnu z-Zann” and about goodness, and you will get goodness. Otherwise, you will live in sadness and sorrow all the time. And it will have no benefit in ākhirah.

The way of our Holy Prophet ṣallá Llāhu ‘alayhi wa-sallam is beautiful. That is the way of salvation. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla has shown it in Qur’ān ‘Aẓīmu sh-Shān. If you want the love of Allāh ﷻ, in short, follow our Holy Prophet ﷺ. Love what he ﷺ did and what he ﷺ loves. And dislike what he ﷺ doesn’t love. All your work will go smoothly. And you’ll be a loved servant of Allāh ﷻ. If you are a disliked servant, your work will be useless then. Also,

‘قُلْ أَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَالرَّسُولَ ۖ فَإِن تَوَلَّوْا فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ الْكَافِرِينَ’,

‘Qul aṭī‘ū Llāha wa-r-rasūla fa-in tawallaw fa-inna Llāha lā yuḥibbu l-kāfirīn’, ‘Say, “Obey Allah and the Messenger.” But if they turn away – then indeed, Allah does not like the disbelievers.’ (Qur’ān 03:32). “Obey Allāh ﷻ. Obey His ﷻ Prophet, His ﷻ Rasūl. Allāh ﷻ doesn’t like kāfirs.” This is the second important point; to follow Allāh ﷻ and the Prophet ﷺ. Whoever doesn’t follow him ﷺ and turns his back to him ﷺ, he is not loved in the sight of Allāh ﷻ. He ﷻ doesn’t like him.

Sometimes there are nonsense people. They are called humanists. They say you should love all people. I don’t love those whom Allāh ﷻ doesn’t love. I don’t love the enemies of Allāh ﷻ. And I don’t love those who go against Allāh ﷻ. You must not love those whom Allāh ﷻ doesn’t love. If Allāh ﷻ guides them, then they can be loved. If not, their place is separate and our place is separate. May Allāh ﷻ let us be in good places inshā’aLlāh. May we be on the side loved by Allāh ﷻ inshā’aLlāh.
