The Greatest Proof of Faith

Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ كَانَتْ لَهُمْ جَنَّاتُ الْفِرْدَوْسِ نُزُلًا

(Qur’ān 18:107)

“Inna l-ladhīna āminu wa a’milu s-ṣāliḥāti kānat lahum jannātu l-firdawsi nuzulā

“Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds – they will have the Gardens of Paradise as a lodging.” Ṣadaqa Llāhu l-‘aẓīm.

Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla is promising us. Allāh ‘Azza wa-Jalla’s promise is haqq, the truth. Those who believe and do good will have Jannatul Firdaus, in shā’a Llāh. Fulfilling this beautiful command, in shā’a Llāh, is the greatest favor for believers. It is the greatest of the great favors. You should do good and believe.

Īmān is faith in the unseen. Faith in the unseen means believing first in Allāh ﷻ, the Prophets, the angels, the jinn and all His ﷻ commands. Without īmān, there is a great void, a nothingness. People don’t know what they are doing. And that’s what shayṭān desires.

This is what he imposes on people. He demonstrates that faith in the unseen is not necessary; that there is no such thing. Indeed, the greatest proof of the importance of the unseen: your own body, yourself, the human being itself.

Where did it come from? Allāh ﷻ created man from nothing. So how is it created? Is it created from a factory or something? Allāh ﷻ creates it. He puts souls in people. That soul is a proof from Allāh ﷻ that people hold in their hands. The importance of Ghayb, the unseen.

After that soul departs, mankind becomes a carcass or a corpse. The same goes for animals. So, what those people don’t believe in is within their grasp all the time, throughout their whole lives, not far away.

Therefore, īmān is a great blessing, a virtue of wisdom. The mind of those who don’t believe in it is flawed. Because they have the proof, the overwhelming evidence within their grasp; their own body, their limbs, everything around them.

If it weren’t for that soul, if it weren’t for what they don’t believe in, they wouldn’t be able to breathe a breath or take a single step after it’s gone. That’s why, īmān is important. The fruit and reward of īmān is Paradise. The punishment for not believing in it is Hell.

May Allāh ﷻ protect us. May Allāh ﷻ strengthen our īmān, in shā’a Llāh. Wa min Allāh at-Tawfiq.

Al-Fatiha.
