[One morning, Sheikh Nazimق spoke about the carefree attitude of members of a rock band, who rehearsed next to a mosque in London where he often gave lectures.]

By the name of Allah, All-Mighty, All-Merciful, Most Beneficent and Most Munificent.

Very happy people! They are happy, we are happy, alhamdulillah. They are not asking to be like us, and we are not asking to be like them. Everyone is happy.

Every group must be happy. If not happy, its people will change to another group. This is important. Allah Almighty says, “Kullu hizbin bima ladayhim farihun,” every party is happy with what it finds.

Every group is sitting at a feast, and from that feast they are taking their pleasure. If not taking pleasure from this group, they will leave and go to another. If not taking it there, then their pleasure is going to be with a third group.

I mean to say that everyone belongs to a group by his thoughts, by his actions, by his behavior, by his attributes, by his customs, and by his beliefs. Even within religions there are so many groups.

In London, some Muslims go to Central Mosque, some go to Peckham Mosque, some go to Shacklewell Lane Mosque, some to the West Indian Mosque. Now Turks are also three or four groups, each following someone. And they are pleased. If not pleased, they would not go there.

That is a rule in the world. Allah Almighty has placed that rule, and He ﷻ is saying, “Everyone is happy with the group that he finds in front of him, like a table prepared for certain people.”

One person may say, “Yes, this is best for me,” and he sits and is content. Another may come, look, sit for a while, and then leave. It means he does not agree with our Association, does not find pleasure in what pleases us, and is seeking something else.

That is all right. Every heart has its own direction, and every seeker is guided to what has been written for him by Allah ﷻ.

Therefore, now, the people next door are pleased. They have so many people gathering, and they are happy. We are also gathering and happy here, alhamdulillah.

Allah Almighty gathers some people for evil and others He ﷻ gathers together for good. They are carrying something, some load. If they do not do that, if they leave it, others must take their place.

Perhaps it may even come to us to play the trumpet. As long as there are people playing, we are free to sit and gather. But if those people are no longer there, it may be impossible for us to be here, for those trumpets must be played. And if no one else remains, perhaps the turn will come to us.

Therefore, we are thanking Allah Almighty that there are servants to play the trumpet, so that we are free for His ﷻ service. And we say, “Those people are tiring themselves by doing such a thing. O our Lord, forgive them and lift from them their burdens.”

They are not praying for us, but those who pray must pray for others.

Understand? They are not thinking of praying for themselves or for anyone else. But believers, those who pray, must be more generous than those who are carrying evil, representing evil, and working through evil.

We are thankful to our Lord ﷻ that we are free, away from evil. They do not think of praying for themselves or for others, but you must think about them, those people, because they are under a heavy burden. Say, “O my Lord, forgive them.”

That is a high degree of faith. It is the level of the prophets (AS), particularly the level of the Seal of the Prophets ﷺ. He ﷺ asked forgiveness for those people who had been used for evil, because our Prophet ﷺ had knowledge of divine wisdom.

If he ﷺ had not known divine wisdoms, he ﷺ would not have been the Last Prophet. More than any other prophet, he ﷺ knew the divine wisdom concerning the sons of Adam (AS), concerning the believers and concerning the unbelievers.

He ﷺ knew about shaytan, about the nafs, about this dunya, and he ﷺ knew about the Last Day and what is after it, concerning eternal life. He ﷺ was the one who knew most about the divine wisdoms concerning Paradise and Hell.

Therefore, he ﷺ always asked forgiveness for his ﷺ nation, for his ummah. And we too must ask forgiveness for others.

All people, those living now and those who lived earlier, up to the end of this world, are from his ﷺ nation. When Sayyidina ‘Isa (AS) comes again, he will not come as a prophet and there will not be a nation for him. He will come as a member of the nation of Muhammad ﷺ.

And the Prophet ﷺ is asking forgiveness for everyone in the Divine Presence. Allah Almighty has given him ﷺ a promise, saying, “On the Last Day I will say to you, O Muhammad, as you like, I will do. As you like, I will give to you. As you like, I will forgive. As you like, I will grant, for you!”

No one can reach that point, that station. It is the highest station, maqam al-mahmud, the most respected and praiseworthy station in the Divine Presence. It has been given to only one among all the sons of Adam (AS), among all the prophets, among all the saints.

Allah Almighty will say to him ﷺ, “Ask and I shall give, as you like.”

Then the Prophet ﷺ will ask, and Allah ﷻ will say, “Ask more!”

He ﷺ will ask more, and Allah Almighty will say, “I am giving. Ask more, ask more, ask more!”

And the Prophet ﷺ will be ashamed and he will stop. Then our Lord Almighty will say, “Now look at what I will give to My servants!”

When Allah ﷻ opens a Mercy Ocean and divine rewards begin to appear for His servants, the Prophet ﷺ will be too shy to look. He ﷺ will lower his gaze before the greatness of what Allah ﷻ is granting to His servants and to the nation of Muhammad ﷺ.

He ﷺ will then look and see that everything he had asked is no more than a single drop upon the tip of a needle compared to the endless Oceans that Allah ﷻ is opening for His servants. Such is the mercy and generosity of our Lord ﷻ.

Man will face hardship throughout his life. However much he may suffer in this world, when he leaves this life, in his grave, in Barzakh, and on the Day of Resurrection, he must keep his hope in his Lord, Allah Almighty, at the highest level.

For Allah ﷻ says, “Sabaqat rahmati ‘ala ghadabi,” My Mercy surpasses My anger.

Therefore, whatever trials the sons of Adam (AS) may endure, at last they will be carried to the endless Oceans of Mercy of their Lord ﷻ.

May Allah ﷻ grant us forgiveness and guidance, and keep us always in His remembrance.

May He ﷻ gather us with the Beloved Prophet ﷺ under the banner of His Divine Love.

Al-Fatiha.

This series was initiated by the SufiHub Team in honour of the 2nd Urs of our beloved Sheikh, the late Sheikh Muhammad Abdul Sattar Khan, who lovingly dedicated himself to transcribing and summarising the daily sohbahs of Mawlana Sheikh Nazimق.

It was through this blessed service that he began his journey on this beautiful Way in 2008, remaining steadfast upon it until his final breath in 2023. Today, his legacy continues at our Zawiyah at A’Posh Bizhub Singapore through his representatives Sidi Shalihin, Ismail, and Syed Muhammad, who humbly carry forward the path he sincerely paved.

We pray that our dear Sheikh Abdul Sattar has been reunited with his beloved Mawlana Sheikh Nazimق and all our Grandshaykhs, and that their light continues to guide us always on the way of Haqq.

The text was originally taken from Liberating the Soul – A Guide for Spiritual Growth by Shaykh Nazim Adil al-Haqqaniق. With love and sincere intention, parts of this sohbah have been gently revised by the SufiHub Team for clarity and contextual relevance.

If you wish to share it on your platforms, kindly post it in full and ensure that proper credit is given to all its sources. For this is adab, the very core of our beautiful religion and way.
