By the name of Allah, All-Mighty, All-Merciful, Most Beneficent and Most Munificent.

Allah Almighty is going to be pleased with His servants if they are pleased with their Lord ﷻ. Therefore, Grandsheikhق is making me to make you free and pleased, forgetting everything, and when you are with me, to be relaxed and to be happy.

Once Grandsheikh Sharafuddinق was with Grandsheikh Abdullahق. Our Grandsheikhق had a farm a little far away and he was going there.

Along the way, some youngsters, fourteen, sixteen, eighteen years old, were together shouting and laughing in a group. Grandsheikhق stopped and said, “Allah is too happy with them.”

If a person is in seclusion for forty years making dhikr, he would not be happier than children shouting, dancing, and laughing. Allah ﷻ asks, “What about My servant, why is he not happy?”

Yes, ‘ulama may say something else, but we are shaykhs, not scholars. They are not looking from Grandsheikhق’s view. Scholars may give orders to always stay solemn, but we are saying to be happy people, laughing and enjoying.

If Allah ﷻ gives something of His favors to His servants, He likes to see on them the signs of His pleasure with them. If a servant says only, “Shukr alhamdulillah” then he will have the pleasure of Allah ﷻ.

He ﷻ likes His servants to be in pleasure, in happiness, and that makes Him happier with them.

I am looking at people dancing, and they are making an excellent demonstration of joy. Where is that power coming from? They are pleased with their lives and their Lord ﷻ!

Once a Grandsheikhق was with his mureeds. He was making a picnic with them at a riverside, and they saw a boat full of drunk people, too happy a group.

The mureeds were saying, “O our shaykh, curse them! They are all devils, they are all rebels! Pray against them that all of them fall in the water and drown!”

And that Grandsheikhق made a du‘a, “O my Lord ﷻ, Your servants are pleased in this life. Make the drunk ones pleased in the next life, too.”

That du‘a quickly reached Allah ﷻ. His ﷻ favors came to them, and they threw the alcohol away, came to the shore, and kissed hisق hand. They said, “We are fed up with our sinful life and we want repentance.” Then they became the best mureeds, among the very best.

If you have spiritual or material means or gifts, with that opportunity you must do your best for people. If you can do anything materially for people, you must do it to make them happy, to take away their miseries and troubles.

And if you have such power as that shaykh, then you are answered when you ask, Allah ﷻ quickly giving. Therefore, awliya are not keeping power from people. They are doing their best for Allah ﷻ’s servants. That we must know.

If we can do something good, we must do it. Do not leave any occasion when you can do something of goodness. Do it!

Once Grandsheikhق was speaking about Sayyidina Umarر, Caliph Umarر. When he was buried, all the sahabah were looking at him.

They asked, “O Umar, what has happened to you in the spiritual world?”

Heر said, “Allah has forgiven me and granted His mercy to me.”

They asked, “For what thing did He grant mercy? When Allah gives mercy, do you know for what thing it is?”

Allah Almighty Himself asked Umarر.

Heر replied, “My Lord, You know best.”

And Allah ﷻ said, “One day you were walking through the streets of Madinah and children were tying birds’ legs, letting them fly and pulling them back. You saw it and showed pity for a little bird. You paid the children for the bird and freed it. You did your best for that creature, and for that I am granting you My mercy.

O believers, look. Sayyidina Umarر was the one whom devils feared, the one whose firmness shook the world. Yet the mercy of Allah ﷻ reached him because he showed pity to a small bird.

Do not think the mercy of Allah ﷻ is only for big battles or great deeds. Even a little kindness, if it is done sincerely for Allah ﷻ, opens the doors of forgiveness.

Everyone, if he may do his best for creatures, particularly for people, must do it. The loveliest action is to make a person happy. Try to make a person happy, that makes Allah ﷻ happy with you.

So many people are coming depressed. You must tell them to go around and look for people in misery and try to help them. If they are able to help, the depression will quickly leave.

This is true for animals, too. The Prophet ﷺ told us (in Bukhari 4:538) about a sinful woman who was travelling. She reached a well and saw a dog so thirsty that he was licking the earth. She filled her shoe with water and gave it to the dog to drink.

When she reached the city, Allah Almighty ordered the Prophet ﷺ to give her glad tidings, for she had changed her ways.

That is the most important thing. You must look every night at what you have done to help others and relieve them of their burdens. If making dhikr all day, it is for you. But your charity must not stop with yourself, it must extend to others.

That is the highest horizon that man can reach. That makes us happy, and when happy, we feel it in our hearts. When I see sad ones, I feel sad, and when I am making them happy, I feel happy.

Try to make your surroundings happy ones, not sad. Make people happy!

Hell is for devils, and we are asking for Paradise. During this life, so many things may happen that our egos never like, but our souls are always happy. Do you think that if a person is in prison and he is given good tidings that those difficult days are finished and he will be king of the country, he will be sad?

Sayyidina Yusuf (AS) was in the most difficult imprisonment, yet he dreamt that he would be a prophet and a king. Though his body was locked away, his soul was free, reaching East and West at any time.

Therefore, our souls are hopeful of Allah ﷻ’s endless Mercy Oceans. Do not be sad about little things but look to the Hereafter, at what you may see.

When people come to the Day of Resurrection, they will see patient ones being rewarded too much. They will say, “O Allah, give me difficulties so I may be able to progress to such patience and become such a one!”

May Allah Almighty make us among those who bring happiness to His servants, who live with shukr and contentment, and who are always pleasing to Him.

And may He ﷻ gather us with the Prophet ﷺ and the righteous in the Gardens of Paradise.

Al-Fatiha.

This series was initiated by the SufiHub Team in honour of the 2nd Urs of our beloved Sheikh, the late Sheikh Muhammad Abdul Sattar Khan, who lovingly dedicated himself to transcribing and summarising the daily sohbahs of Mawlana Sheikh Nazimق.

It was through this blessed service that he began his journey on this beautiful Way in 2008, remaining steadfast upon it until his final breath in 2023. Today, his legacy continues at our Zawiyah at A’Posh Bizhub Singapore through his representatives Sidi Shalihin, Ismail, and Syed Muhammad, who humbly carry forward the path he sincerely paved.

We pray that our dear Sheikh Abdul Sattar has been reunited with his beloved Mawlana Sheikh Nazimق and all our Grandshaykhs, and that their light continues to guide us always on the way of Haqq.

The text was originally taken from Liberating the Soul – A Guide for Spiritual Growth by Shaykh Nazim Adil al-Haqqaniق. With love and sincere intention, parts of this sohbah have been gently revised by the SufiHub Team for clarity and contextual relevance.

If you wish to share it on your platforms, kindly post it in full and ensure that proper credit is given to all its sources. For this is adab, the very core of our beautiful religion and way.
