By the name of Allah, All-Mighty, All-Merciful, Most Beneficent and Most Munificent.
We are asking for Allah Almighty’s divine favors and help to make us understand and to make things clear.
If divine help does not come, you must know that we are nothing. Everything in existence is standing by its Lord ﷻ’s power and help. Otherwise, nothing can be in existence. If divine support is taken away from the universe even for less than a second, it is finished. Nothing remains.
“Wal-Lahu Waliyu-l-Muminin.” This is not a complete verse but a very important part of a verse that came to my heart while I was reciting the Holy Qur’an. Let us see what understanding will be sent to the hearts of those present.
Allah Almighty is Al-Wali, the Helper and Protector of believers, the Supporter, the Savior, the Friend. He ﷻ is everything to a believer, here and in the Hereafter.
As much as you believe in Him ﷻ, that He is your Supporter, you will find Him to be your Supporter.
As much as you believe in Him ﷻ, that He is your Helper, you will find Him to be the complete Helper for you.
If you believe that He ﷻ is your Savior, you will find Him saving you in every terrible or dangerous situation.
When a person or people truly believe that their Lord ﷻ is their Supporter, they will find Him their Supporter, their Helper, and their Protector in every circumstance.
O people, O children of Adam (AS)! Whatever condition you may be in, and however terrible the circumstances surrounding you may be, you will never escape them through your own power, knowledge, thoughts, or ideas. Your mind and your strength can never deliver you.
Heavy and dark conditions may surround you, but if you believe in Allah Almighty, that He ﷻ is the Friend and Companion of believers, He says, “I am with you, your Companion.”
The Holy Qur’an, Glorious Qur’an, is teaching all mankind. Within it is everything you need for your life, especially for difficult times. In it, Allah Almighty is giving examples of nations and prophets and their communities, showing how terrible conditions sometimes surrounded them and how they were saved.
Among the prophets (AS), Allah Almighty spoke most about Sayyidina Musa (AS) and the Children of Israel. Sayyidina Musa (AS) was among the greatest of prophets. Allah Almighty honoured him to hear His divine speech directly, without the intermediary of Sayyidina Jibril (AS).
Allah Almighty sent Sayyidina Musa (AS) to Pharaoh, who represented shaytan upon the earth. Pharaoh said to his people, “I am your Lord, the greatest one,” and he fought against the Lord ﷻ of the heavens and the Lord of the worlds, the Lord of Pharaoh himself.
He fought, and the Lord ﷻ of the heavens sent Sayyidina Musa (AS) with one stick. Just one stick, and it was enough for Allah Almighty to punish all those on earth who claim lordship. Whoever raises his head claiming to be a lord, a stick will come upon his head as punishment!
The Children of Israel suffered terribly under Pharaoh’s tyranny. Allah Almighty gives these examples to teach every generation, for there will always be Pharaohs in every time. Then, there was one Pharaoh and many slaves. Today, there are many Pharaohs, and they are even more tyrannical than that Pharaoh.
That Pharaoh admitted that there was a Lord ﷻ in the heavens, yet claimed, “I am the lord of the earth. His throne is above, but mine is here.” When Sayyidina Musa (AS) said to him, “Believe in your Lord,” Pharaoh asked, “Who is my Lord? I see my lord within myself.”
He meant to say, “My ego is my Lord, not anyone else.” But modern Pharaohs are saying, “No Lord on earth or in the heavens.” Astaghfirullah, astaghfirullah! “No God,” they are saying. “The universe came into being by itself.”
Mindless people! If you were to ask those in a mental hospital, they would laugh at such claims. “Why are you keeping us inside,” they would say, “when the real madmen are outside, saying there is no God?”
Yes, they would blame those people, those Pharaohs, those Nimrods, who are saying, “No God of the universe.” They are saying that the whole universe exists by itself, and yet they are claiming that they are scholars or people who know science!
Those Pharaohs and Nimrods claim there is no Creator, yet call themselves men of knowledge. But Allah Almighty will punish them. At the end of their lives, they will cry out, “O Allah, save me!” But where was your Lord ﷻ throughout your life? Why did you not call upon Him then?
When that Pharaoh enslaved his people, the Children of Israel were oppressed more than anyone else. Then Allah Almighty said to Sayyidina Musa (AS), “Take them out of Egypt. I am with you, your Companion.” Allah Almighty promised the believers to be their Savior, Protector, Friend, Companion, Helper, and Supporter, to be everything.
Believe in God, believe in your Lord Almighty! Then you will find every narrow path becoming wider. The one who believes in his Lord ﷻ will find a sirat (path) in the next world, and on the Last Day he will go on it. It is as narrow as a wire, but believers will find it so wide, while unbelievers will find it like the edge of a sword.
Allah Almighty commanded Sayyidina Musa (AS) saying, “Take the Children of Israel with you out of Egypt and walk on your path, as I am commanding you.” And all the people went with him, he led them forward, and the people were marching after him.
They walked until they reached the shore of the Red Sea. Then, when they were approaching it, Allah Almighty’s divine wisdom caused the sea to rise in mighty waves. Those waves were with the anger of the Lord ﷻ, attacking with great force. The Children of Israel were trembling with fear.
They said, “O Musa (AS), where have you been ordered to go?”
“In this direction,” he (AS) said.
They looked ahead and saw the raging sea. They looked behind and saw Pharaoh’s army drawing near.
Then a horseman came to Sayyidina Musa (AS) and asked, “O Prophet of the Lord, in which direction have you been ordered to go?”
“In this direction,” he (AS) said.
Then that horseman spurred his horse and, jumping on the waves, he passed over them as if he had been walking on the street, all the people looking on.
There was belief, true faith, with that person. The command of the Lord ﷻ must be obeyed, you must obey it! Do not be worried, Allah is your Companion. “I am with you,” He says.
Spurring his horse and jumping on the waves, the waves were so terrible that you could not bear to look, but that horseman jumped and ran on the waves, reaching the other side.
Another horseman came after that one, asking, “In which direction have you been ordered to go, O Prophet of the Lord?”
Sayyidina Musa (AS), pointing with his stick, said, “In that direction.” And that horseman also made his horse jump onto the sea, on the waves. But then he disappeared.
The Children of Israel were looking on. Then they cried, they shouted, all of them. But Allah Almighty is waliyu-l-muminin, He is the Savior of the believers. He was looking at what they were going to do or say.
And Pharaoh was approaching now, no more distance. Sayyidina Musa (AS) was awaiting the command, the holy command, of his Lord ﷻ.
If you believe in Allah Almighty, you can make people believe in Him ﷻ, but if you do not believe, you cannot make others believe. Prophets (AS) have perfect belief in their Lord so they are able to give from their belief.
And no one’s belief can be like our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ’s belief, because he is giving from his belief for eternity. If mankind goes on up to eternity, the Prophet’s belief is an ocean. He may give, never getting finished.
Therefore, we must believe in the prophets (AS) and in the Seal of the Prophets ﷺ, we must believe. And it is part of the Shahadah, the Declaration of Faith. Without proclaiming your witness to “Muhammadu Rasul-Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of God,” it is incomplete.
The one who is addressing people must believe in what he is saying, then he may make people believe. Therefore, a munafiq, a hypocrite, cannot give anything. Perhaps his illness will spread to others.
Sayyidina Musa (AS) believed in his Lord Almighty. When he told them, “We have been ordered to go forward,” nothing could stand in their way, for the Will of their Lord ﷻ removed every obstacle.
Sayyidina Musa (AS) saw when the heavenly doors opened. He saw when the divine order came, and the door of safety opened before them. Everything awaits its appointed time. Before that moment, it cannot happen, and after it, it will not be delayed. In Allah Almighty’s Divine Presence, everything is punctual. Most perfectly punctual.
Now Pharaoh was coming with his soldiers on horses, while the Children of Israel stood waiting. When faith settles in the heart, no more troubles.
Sayyidina Musa (AS) waited for the divine command. Then, when it came, Allah Almighty said, “O Musa (AS), strike your staff upon the sea.”
Sayyidina Musa (AS) did as told, and the sea opened into twelve paths. When it was opened, they saw one horseman standing in the sea, and another already across it. The One who preserved the first on the sea had preserved the second in the sea.
Faith makes everything easy.
Another example is from the time of the Sahabah. Sa’d ibn Abi Waqqasر was a great soldier who reached the Tigris River in Baghdad with the Muslim army while pursuing the Magians in Persia.
It was after winter, and the river was full and strong. Sa’dر, the commander, stood on the riverbank and addressed it, saying, “O Tigris! This is the army of Caliph ‘Umarر, whose justice spreads throughout the world. Even wolves do not attack sheep because of his justice. This is the army under his command, going to fight the unbelievers. Let it pass upon you.”
Then, saying “Bismillahi-r Ramani-r-Rahim, Allahu Akbar!” he went across on his horse, never getting wet, and the whole army passed through the river.
Every miracle that was given to all prophets (AS) was given to our Prophet ﷺ and to his nation and followers, alhamdulillah.
Allah Almighty says, “I am your Companion. I am your Savior, O My believers. Trust in Me. As much as you trust in Me, you will find it all right. I will not allow your belief to be lost. Ana ‘inda dhanni ‘abdi bi. O people, you will find Me to be as you think Me to be. I am that One.”
Therefore, “Wal-Lahu waliyu-l-muminin.” Allah ﷻ is the Friend, the Protector, and the Supporter of the believers.
O people, this world is approaching its end and the Last Days have reached in our time. Terrible conditions are unfolding because of our own actions. We have allowed devils to establish their kingdom upon the earth, and many of the children of Adam (AS) are helping them.
The Seal of the Prophets ﷺ foretold that terrible times would come. Compared to what is approaching, what we live in now is like Paradise.
Terrible conditions are approaching. The heavenly curse will come upon earth because so many people are denying the Lord ﷻ of the heavens. They say, “Everything in the universe came by itself.” O foolish ones! If everything exists by itself, why can you not keep your own existence?
O believers, your Companion is your Lord ﷻ! In difficult times, in terrible times, He is your Friend, your Savior, both here and in the Hereafter.
Believe in your Lord ﷻ and strive to be obedient servants to Him. He will never lose you, neither here nor in the Hereafter.
May Allah ﷻ grant us strong faith and certainty. May He make us among those who trust fully in Him.
May He ﷻ protect us from Pharaohs of our time, from disbelief, and from drowning in our egos.
Al-Fatiha.
